George Barker: Screw The 10th Amendment

By Greg L | 1 February 2010 | 39th VA Senate | 5 Comments

Our esteemed Senator George Barker, representing the 39th Senate District which covers part of Prince William County, voted against the bi-partisan majority that passed SB 283 through the Senate today in another stunning example of a liberal politician wrapping themselves in the thin camouflage of “moderate” garb.  Barker must think it’s a great idea to require Virginians to enter into contracts with private companies under threat of jail time, because that’s exactly the way he voted.  I’m sure that will simply overjoy many of his constituents.

You just gotta love how when their on the campaign trail, candidates lead you to believe that they’ll act in one way and after they’re elected do just the opposite.  Heck, a vote like this isn’t even consistent with the oath of office Senators take, which pledges them to uphold the constitution.

I’d encourage everyone to send a copy of the Bill of Rights to Senator Barker.  Apparently he could use some remedial reading.

UPDATE: It’s worth noting that Chuck Colgan voted in favor of the 10th Amendment, while Toddy Puller voted against it.  Both of these Senators represent portions of Prince William County as well.  Many thanks to Chuck for listening to his constituents on this, and shame on Toddy Puller for ignoring them.

That there was even a single senator voting against this speaks volumes to the deplorable degradation of civics education in our schools. It’s like Saul Alinsky has commandeered our schools and filled people’s heads with senseless “social justice” mush, leaving us only a hollow shell of the great nation we once were.

When inept legislators like George Barker prattle on about how “healthcare is a right” and showing they have no idea what the difference is between a right and an entitlement some civics teacher is rolling in their grave wondering how the heck their hard efforts yielded such crap. Maybe we can tattoo the bill of rights on Barker’s butt so every time he wipes he’s reminded of what the heck he’s supposed to be doing but not doing.

It’s really the fault of the electorate that selected this reprobate though. You look for the reason this happens, you better look in the mirror. When we’re so collectively stupid we intevitably select stupid people to represent us.

Ever seen the movie “idiocracy?” You’re living it.

I don’t think Colgan voted in favor of the Tenth Amendment. That has been on the books for roughly two centuries and, in any event, is not before the General Assembly now. If he did vote for it, it’s too late.

Jay O’Brien said last night at the FCRC meeting that he will be running for the 39th district Senate seat. This is great news and I hope that everyone will get behind him to defeat George Barker in 2011.
