Having people eager to step up as candidates is a very good sign of a healthy party. I'm sure Democrats will receive stiff challenges, but there will also be some challenges to sitting Republican incumbents to ensure we have the best representation possible.

When incumbents never face primary challenges, that's not a good sign for the party, and it often means incumbents get a little too comfortable in their positions.

Greg, I'm confused. You say that everything is great with the Republican Party in PWC, totally unified, enjoyed the lovefest Friday night. Then you say that there is a whole bunch of Republicans ready to run for the school board and the board of supervisors. Last time I checked, the Prince William County school board and board of supervisors were dominated by, and controlled by Republicans, and have been so for many, many years. So, are all these Republicans planning to run against John Jenkins, Danita Ramirez and Frank Principi? Or are they planning on running against other Republicans? If the latter, how does that translate to a unified party. If the former, what are the chances a Republican can win in Woodbridge or Neabsco? Just curious.

Absolutely. More to follow later on. It's still a little early to start alerting some of our less than conservative Republicans as to the difficulties they'll face in their next effort to get re-elected.

One thing the Tea Party Movement has done has gotten a lot of people thinking about stepping up. I'm rather encouraged by the buzz I'm hearing.

Greg, thanks for covering this. Any chance you heard of some primary challenges to some of our RINOs?

Greg L.,

Kudos to you for your interest in politics! And for your ambition to spread the news. Being an American has much more to do with "caring" and "doing" than selecting any particular viewpoint. And you are a true American (please consider this a major compliment).
