“Cut Virginia Spending Tour” Visits Gainesville

By Greg L | 22 February 2010 | 29th VA Senate, Prince William County | No Comments

Not much notice on this, but if you’re free Tuesday night (tomorrow) there’s another Americans For Prosperity event in Gainesville that you probably won’t want to miss.  While Senator Chuck Colgan is supporting higher taxes on Virginians during these difficult economic times, some citizens are gathering to demonstrate that we want smaller government, not higher taxes. Let’s hope he gets our message!

When & Where:
7:30PM, Tuesday February 23rd
Hampton Inn
7300 Atlas Walk Way
Gainesville, VA 20155

Here’s the information about this event from AFP:

While Senators spend this week debating how to raise taxes on working Virginians, the Virginia chapter of Americans for Prosperity will take to the roads and visit communities all across Virginia with a simple solution, “Cut Spending.”

“We MUST hold accountable any legislator who attempts to erase this deficit by raising taxes on hard working Virginians,” said AFP-VA State Director Ben Marchi. “After all, Virginians expect their legislators to lead with real fixes, not temporary band-aids to get through the next budget year or campaign cycle.”

Earlier this month, Delegates Ben Cline (R-Lexington) and Brenda Pogge (R-James City) joined Marchi at a capitol press conference to unveil AFP-Virginia’s “Commonsense Model Budget,” which provides an overview of where cuts might be made.

The Model Budget can be viewed online at http://www.americansforprosperity.org/020210-americans-prosperity-unveil… and copies will be distributed to those who attend the events listed below. Concerned citizens are encouraged to read the model budget and contact their senators.

*Photo Opportunity: Tour will feature 13-foot-tall giant pig statue that reads, “Stop Higher Taxes. Stop Pigging Out With Our Tax Dollars.”
