Is that true?

If so, I’d probably retaliate too.

What’s the alternative? Just watch the House of Delegates ignore legislation sent, almost unanimously, from the Senate go into the “bit bucket”?

Sounds from Sen. Saslaw’s comments (if true) that the real villians are the Delegates.

I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that whatsoever. He’s kind of been like this consistently, so I don’t think there’s a mental issue developing here. That’s my honest opinion.

Even if there was an issue, I’d be reluctant to speculate on such matters. I had a grandfather go down that difficult road, and the last thing I would have wanted was a bunch of strangers talking about it. I figure if there ever is such a thing happening, it’s probably best to let the family deal with it and hope the right decision was made for everyone.

But let me stress again, Chuck Colgan has always thrown out some real whoppers from time to time, and this statement doesn’t seem out of character at all. We can address the policy and procedural issues that statement raises without having to speculate on medical conditions.

The backroom gamesmanship has always been there, but it was always as a means to get other legislation passed that mattered to a member’s particular district or pet cause. As was just pointed out by “anon” above, it’s only about power now. They are so arrogant that they mouth off about what they’re doing to the press and anyone else that will listen instead of keeping it in the backroom. Pathetic any way you cut it.

I can’t even stand to set foot in the halls of the General Assembly anymore because they all make me sick to my stomach.

At least Senator Colgan realized how utterly stupid he and others were being. However, I look forward to having a new Senator soon. Hopefully Colgan will retire early.

Here’s another facinating quote from Senate leadership that was on the Washpo blog recently:

The idea was a key part of McDonnell’s transportation program during the campaign and he was fairly irked when Senate Democrats killed the bill a few weeks back. But on Monday, several Democrats who voted against the measure the first time voted for it on the second go-around.

Leading Democratic Sen. Charles J. Colgan (D-Prince William), who switched his vote, said he always supported the measure but he had decided to vote against it the first time because the Democratic caucus decided to use the issue to make a show of strength to the governor. “The Democrats were solid,” he said. “It was political.”

On reflection, Colgan said that he and a few others decided they had achieved little other than upsetting the governor with their message of unity. “A couple of us decided, why do it? What did we accomplish with that?”

Better late than never to recognize how dumb this is, but aren’t we supposed to expect a better initial judgment from the Senate’s most senior ranking member?

Dick “sans law” needs to be a primary target to take out when he is up for reelection. Speaker Howell (RINO) needs to be the second. They are both obstructionists…
