Talk about Consent of the Governed.

Watch this Fimian Minute and you'll see a man ready for national leadership.

It is a sad day for all Americans when our elected officials ignore the will of the people that they represent and vote along ideological lines. We as a people suffer from a lack of representation which is very appalling. The politicians who lack the veracity, maturity and ethical standards should all feel the embarrassment and public disgrace that their actions deserve. It is looking more certain that this severly flawed health insurance legislation is going to pass today which is going to send the signal to the entire world that our government is weak and corrupt.
This vote today has nothing to do with health care as it is simply about ideology and political power. The political repurcussions are going to be enormous and the culture divisions are going to last for decades. Our political process is going to be changed, for the worse I'm afraid, for a generation. When our political leaders get on national television and lie to our faces to say that we have problems is an understatement.

As I stated at the start of my opinion it is a sad day for all of us.

At least Nye is a "no" (as of this moment anyway). Perriello is just weak and, well . . . Connolly is as Connolly does.

The boyz over at Hillbuzz have a good strategy - lobby/boycott big donors to Democrats like Connolly. When I worked in a "government relations" department on K street, it was all about organizing fundraisers and writing checks. Once the major sources of private funding go away, the wheels come off a campaign. It's not enough to have a good opposition platform; independent voters must articulate a plan to strangle the far left Dems financially as well.

And this just in from Pat Mullins:
<blockquote>
"I was extremely disappointed to learn that Congressmen Glenn Nye, Tom Perriello and Gerry Connolly were in Richmond, speaking at the annual Democrat Party fundraiser tonight, rather than working on Capitol Hill," Mullins said.

"Government is preparing to take over 16 percent of our economy, turn the IRS into the nation's insurance police and bury our children under a even more unsustainable debt and trillions of dollars in taxes," he said. "The House of Representatives is debating this bill as we speak. And where are these three public servants? Out hobnobbing with Party Bosses, Liberal Lobbyists and Major Donors."

"Meanwhile, thousands of their constituents are calling, e-mailing and otherwise trying to make their opposition to this legislative monstrosity heard. They're doing everything they can to let this Democrat Congress know that they don't want this government takeover of health care," Mullins said.

"Now we have an explanation now as to why these three members are turning a deaf ear to their constituents," Mullins said. "Apparently, if you want Glenn Nye, Tom Perriello or Gerry Connolly to listen, you need to bring a checkbook."</blockquote>
