Mike Hodge Switches Sides

By Greg L | 7 May 2010 | 52nd HOD District | 6 Comments

Well, will you just look at that!  Mike Hodge, who was defeated for the Democrat nomination for 52nd District by now-Delegate Luke Torian, has decided to become a Republican.  No telling whether Torian’s far-left voting record in the House of Delegates is going to change in the next session of the General Assembly, or if Torian will just crater in November 2011 when Mike Hodge gets to hold him to account for playing Jeremiah Wright in the farce Torian’s short tenure has become.

In 2009 Torian barely eked out a victory against a Republican whose campaign didn’t really start until four weeks before the election.  This time around, I think the outcome may well be very different.

What kind of republican will Mr. Hodge be? How do you just decide to run as a republican? The big tent will have another clown?

Read this link to see how this new republican thinks gas taxes shoild be raised and how he was going after the educators union vote. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/02/AR2009060204332.html. Those were his positions one year ago (June 2009) as he ran as a democrat. Seems like this is just another guy looking for political position.

    For what purpose?

Here is a cut from the lik above:

On the transportation front, Hodge said, it is time to raise the gas tax to expand the number of mass transit options. He supports bringing Metro to the county, as well as enhancing rail and bus systems. Larger commuter lots would encourage slugging, a practice in which carpoolers, known as “slugs,” accept free rides from strangers, allowing drivers to use HOV lanes that require a minimum of three passengers per vehicle during rush hours.

As a father of five and an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia, Hodge said, he is passionate about education issues. Teachers need more planning time and higher salaries, and colleges need to better prepare students for life after school by offering workforce development programs, he said.
