Let’s Abet Crime!

Not every day laborer standing on the corner is illegal, but they all need jobs
That quote is in strong contention for the dumbest reasoning on the planet, and will likely be one of the arguments presented in favor of establishing a government-sanctioned day laborer center in Centreville. Never mind that employing an illegal alien is a crime, facilitating that employment is abetting a crime, and demanding that government facilitate that crime on your behalf is racketeering. But the lefties at the “Centreville Immigration Forum” don’t seem to mind that, as long as it’s in support of open borders.
Ask anyone in Herndon how these day laborer centers work out. The next election after local government set one of these up was a housecleaning of the Mayor and City Council. Ask folks in Gaithersburg, Maryland how a government run day laborer center has worked out for them. The citizenry is up in arms, and the crime rate in the area has skyrocketed.
The open borders lobby is organizing to advocate tax dollars be used to abet unlawful activity. Are they going to “own the floor” in this debate, or will the citizens stand up for their community?

Any news on Manassas Park?
No headlines lately. What is up with the tax rate and city center?
‘In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.’
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
Now you’ve done it. Dredging up the ideas and speeches of one of America’s most shameful, racist and bigoted politicians is sure to stir the hate pot.
Don’t you get it? We are supposed to be ashamed of America - not proud. Until we are just like Juarez, we will not be fulfilled as a country.
What we need is:
More graffiti
More murder
More burglary
More kidnappings
All the wonderful things our gentle and kind neighbors from the south share with us. Who are we to complain?
They are an ASSET!
Plus, they are the only life preserver floating in a pool if ignominious defeat for the socialists.

How do you rate all the people with dual citizenship? Un-American?
The Knights of Columbus who proudly call themselves Italian-Americans? St. Patrick’s day parades?
Just wondering.
Gee, do the KoC demand that Italian be spoken? Do the St Paddy’s day folks demand Gaelic? Are they openly threatening to take over America?
What an idiotic analogy.
But, when thats all you got…..

My favorite quote from the story is: Immigration Attorney Lisa Johnson worried that, “If employers had to give their own information, it might deter them from using the center.”
Ya think?????
Weirdest thing ever…I live next door to neighbors that have an affinity against mowing grass. Last summer they waited until the end of August before the homeowner hired a company to clear his yard. Took a crew of 3 men TWO days to clear a .25 acre plot. For my part, I did not report them. Gave them the benefit of the doubt. August of ‘09 was the very last time they mowed. As of Tuesday, their grass exceeded 12 inches. I reported them to neighborhood services and they were cited yesterday, and have 14 days to mow or the county will do it for them. This afternoon my daughter and I watched as some members of this home walked into the backyard and dug a hole. Into the hole they poured charcoal, and actually grilled food in a mini-fire pit while surrounded by 14 inch grasses!!! What are they thinking?
Wonder if they will put it next to the library? So the scum can molest little girls.

Doesn’t bother me at all if they have duel citizenship - as long as they have citizenship. I don’t care if you call yourself Italian-American, Irish-American, Latino-American, African-American, Dutch-American, Russian-American, Jamaican-American, whatever - as long as you are here legally, it doesn’t matter.
Wirewhisk. You need to call EVERY time the grass gets high enough to call. The kinds of lowlifes that let their property get this run down MUST be schooled in how to live in proper society.
I don’t even know where to start on this post this morning.
The Formal Day Labor site was the most controversial event that the Town Of Herndon ever had to face.
In response to 50 to 75 day laborers at the Eldon 7/11, the Herndon Town Council decided to build a Formal Center on town property in spite of overwhelming opposition from the citizens. The site was build with Reston Interfaith funded by Fairfax County as the operator. Bill Threlkeld of Reston Interfaith was the onsite director.
As was pointed out, during many hours of testimony, that the Center would attract more day laborers to the community. The number of day laborers grew to over 125. At the same time overcrowded housing complaints increased as more single family homes became dormitories for day laborers. The situation came to a head when a day laborer from the center killed a local resident in a violent hit and run incident. The individual fled the country the day before the police could arrest him.
The site was closed after the citizens voted out those councilmen and women who voted to allow the center. To this day no candidate for the Hendon Town Council will publicly admit to re-establishing a formal Day Labor Site.
Fairfax County, who financed the operation, had to abandon its plans to establish several more centers around the county. Looks like they have decided to try again. Rest assured, Fairfax County taxpayers will fund this operation. Bill Threlkeld of Reston Interfaith admitted to the Herndon Town Council that the Center could not operate without funding from Fairfax County.
If the residents of Centerville are concerned about this center, I recommend they show up en mass to protest at the June 1 meeting. Contact Michael Frey and let him know your feelings. If you do not act, you can be assured that the county will establish and fund the formal site.

At the Herndon Center Employers were required to register to insure that Day Laborers were paid. Apparently some day laborers were cheated out of their earnings after being hired at the informal site.

Latest on MP, Bankruptcy immenent by 2012, cuts have not been enough and failed city center and low rec center membership have doomed MP.
Thank GOD! Sorry council, guess you need to look for your seconday income somewhere else, I hear there is a day laborer site you can get some work in Centerville. If you know how to do anything that is!
Is it not the job of the Virginia Employment Office to find jobs for people? If so, why dont these fine outstanding “people” who are just looking for a job, go down to the un-employment office and apply for one? Isnt that the legal way to find a job?
I know thats sounds crazy, but I bet it just might work!
Sure beats spending tax dollars on illegal activities……..

mpnomore: The analysis I did in 2008 of MP suggested that they would fail by 2010 and here they are still limping along. One thing I have learned over the past 2 years with this great wall street created depression is that governments will always find a way to kick the can and keep themselves in power. Far be it from math to keep interfering with that reality. MP has also done an admirable job of keeping the MSM blissfully unaware that we are most likely in the top 10 for highest foreclosure rate, highest drops in property value and the most illegal aliens per household for a zipcode in the country. I look at the top 10 most hard hit zipcodes in the country on zillow and MP easily matches or exceeds ALL of the locations on that list.
The MP ship will eventually flip over and sink if left to its own devices. I still believe that the $h1t REALLY hits the fan nationwide this fall as the full realization that we are in a W recession hits and that the 2nd leg down is really a DEPRESSION. At that point some kind of TARP2 initiative will HAVE to be undertaken to bail out the states and cities. QE will keep happening until it can’t. Each successive bailout lasts for about half as long as the previous bailout and eventually the debt bubble will no longer be sustainable. It’s at that point where we either get another world war or a Hitleresque type personality promising us tales of rebirth. We most likely get both.
I remember the Herndon DLC well and was in contact with someone who was quite involved in the opposition. Here is what the situation seemed to be there:
The DLC allowed workers to seek work without “papers” but insisted that employers give them certain information. If you want a couple of workers to paint your porch, you show up, give your information, get your workers, and if you and they agree on a price, that’s the last heard about it. If you stiff them, they can complain and the DLC has your contact info.
Now, according to my source, a lot of employers who had been picking up workers on the street were persons who might not have dotted every ‘i’ and crossed every ‘t’ and who might not actually be licensed to work in the county. They didn’t want to give their info so they didn’t use the DLC. As it happened, they didn’t have to.
The DLC offered a number of services to the workers; and when it opened in the morning, a fair number of workers showed up. The number of jobs that were going to be available was limited, and the DLC used some kind lottery to determine who got them. The workers with high numbers simply left, went to one of several pick-up points, and some got work there, often from the unlicensed contractors mentioned above. The people who had thought that the DLC would stop street-side solicitation were wrong.
The DLC attracted even more workers, making it increasingly difficult both for the workers themselves to get work and causing all sorts of neighborhood problems, starting with over-crowded housing.
FWIW, I also heard that RESTON Interfaith skipped over a couple of possible sites for a DLC in, ahem, Reston, because the citizens of Reston were against it. Most of those speaking in favor of the Herndon DLC did not live in Herndon itself.
Also FWIW, most people who drink green beer on St Patrick’s Day or who march in Columbus Day parades do not have duel citizenship. Duel citizenship is a legal arrangement in which you are actually a citizen of more than one country. This should be illegal. How can you be a loyal citizen of more than one country?
Everyone of the illegal aliens from Mexico that we would put on a citizenship path with amnesty would also be able to retain their Mexican citizenship, while voting in US elections. Does this make sense?
God bless Ray Stevens for telling it like it is:
