While I’m once again backed up with work projects, here’s an opportunity to discuss quite an array of recent developments on the political scene.  Ken Cuccinelli endorsed Keith Fimian adding considerable heft to his strong campaign, the 10th District Convention is coming up and already a faction of Jim Rich supporters are secretly meeting to game the rules and credentials committees, a TEA Party organization in Manassas has sprung up, Jay O’Brien has a tremendous campaign kickoff event, and of course we have Mike Frey in Fairfax in neck-deep with the open borders lobby, testing whether the outrage that is displacing incumbents all across the country is present in Fairfax County.

So much to talk about, so little time…

What is happening with the 2010-11 Manassas Park budget?

Is the tax rate going to stay at $1.65 ?

Why doesn’t the News and Messenger cover MP as they claim
to do on the paper’s masthead?

[Ed note: latest info I have is that they are at $1.65.]

It’s not just in Sudley or the greater Manassas area, it’s nationwide. They are not criminals, they just like to share their culture, all over.

Vandals mar new pedestrian bridge in Detroit
$5M pedestrian link in Mexicantown open for less than one day
Tom Greenwood / The Detroit News

Less than a day after it opened, the Mexicantown Bagley Avenue Pedestrian Bridge was vandalized, Michigan Department of Transportation officials said.

Numerous individuals have “tagged” the $5 million bridge with spray paint and used knives to carve into a wooden bench in the middle of the span. Others signed their names with pens and magic markers on the bench, officials said.

Yes bigdog it is still at 1.65%. The rate is shown on the top left of your latest tax bill which you should have received last week. I thought they were raising it to 1.75% as I thought I saw mention to that effect on their website a few months back.

Did anyone else see the recent Law&Order - Criminal Intent show
that had a segment featuring a large Statue of General Lee
“in Manassas”? A little creative license? (Stonewall at the Battlefield,
    but none of Lee locally).

Thanks park’d. There were news articles and blog post about
PWC and Manassas but nothing about MP - $1.65 is the highest
rate of any jurisdiction in Virginia.

MP is ALWAYS the highest rate in the state. They also had the highest drop in property values and one of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation in 2007-2008 when I was actively digging into the numbers. They ALWAYS manage to stay out of the limelight here for these dubious honors. I for the life of me can’t figure out how…

Wonder if anyone knows what the Census does when they go door to door. This is usually ones who have not returned their file. Question is since I have seen them at some of these doors and it sure didn’t take long. How do we know if the one person answering the questions gave the correct info as to how many living in house?

In some of these cases there are 14/16 adults and at least 9/10 children. If there is no way they get the right numbers, then there goes any hopes of getting money for them.
What can be done about this?

Sorry to say but the good chief Charlie Deane is in no rush to leave. If that upsets you then good.

Here’s something to get your mionds working in a different direction.Gainesville Times says the Planning Commission is looking at allowing Chickens and Roosters on all lots in the County.
Apparently a Mr. Cole is promoting this. We went through this back 10 years ago if not more. People did not want them on small lots.I guess he’s not happy with the way the ordinance reads. And he wants his chickens and fresh eggs.
Many of our new inhabitents likes their chicken home grown and then enjoy fresh killed chickens.
Wow, are we moving ahead or going back in time?

Cynic, I was able to access the article. What I meant was, within the article, does WND have a link to the government document? It seemed to me they were alluding to it, but never actually showed a link to the actual document.

That is what I would also conclude - they allude to it but have no links to the document.

But, at the top of the article it does say that the memo was leaked.

Maybe it’s against the law to link to memos from leaked sources! Or maybe the Reporters/journalists and WND are protecting their sources.

Please note, like Holder, I did not read the article! But, unlike Holder, I do not have a position with the Obama Administration.

For those interested in the Manassas Tea Party, we are trying to get the website up and running this week. Right now it is just a stub page so please check back at the end of the week.

Why did the county stop enforcing the ordinance? I can tell because of the number of jaywalkers I see going across 234 each afternoon, and the number of bikers/walkers. Very unscientific, but it works for me.

Lots of Maryland tags as well. When I moved here from Ohio 20 years ago, I took a little while to change my tags, and probably got stopped about 1x per week. Its a fact that after DMV started requiring proof of legal residency to get a license all the illegals ran to MD to get theirs as well as tags.

Looks like our government officials are looking the other way again.

Governor Brewer and the Arizona legislature continue to assert state rights, this time in education.

This bill addresses both the backlash of ethnic studies programs and the inability to effectively teach in English if you cannot properly speak it.

Virginia legislators, as well as the other 49 states should move forward as well.

Cynic, I am always skeptical about “leaked” documents. It just seems too convenient to claim possession of a document and not show it.
