RIP, NAACP 1909-2010

By Greg L | 26 July 2010 | National Politics, Virginia Politics | 12 Comments

What in the heck happened to this venerable institution to turn it into such a hollow shell of it’s former glory?  It’s as if the NAACP has been co-opted by the Rev Jeremiah Wright and the New Black Panther Party, a development that utterly defies rational explanation.  All that inspiring history, all those dedicated and self-effacing leaders, all those wonderful inspirations as “all men are created equal” became enshrined as our national motto, all of that is now trashed.  We are left with nothing but a hollow and lifeless shell of one of the most significant organizations in American history becomes nothing more than a bullhorn for radicals who understand little of what the NAACP has stood for for so long.

July 26, 2010

The Honorable Jim Webb, Senator
United States Senate
225 Russell Building
Washington, D.C. 20510

Re: Op-Ed Piece in the WSJ on the Myth of White Privilege!

Dear Senator Webb:

On behalf of the Virginia State Conference NAACP, its’ over 100-Adult Branches, College Chapters & Youth Councils we greet you as a fellow Life Member of our Association as we commemorate our 75th Anniversary the Diamond Jubilee at our State Convention, October 29-31, 2010 in the place of our founding Roanoke, Virginia. Senator Webb, we have read your piece entitled, “Diversity & the Myth of White Privilege.” We vehemently disagree with your analysis and wonder if serving in the elite, rich United States Senate has skewed your vision of the world in which we live. Your opponent then and coming George Allen would not have had the gall to write about the “myth of white privilege” even though I am sure he feels that way. In African culture, it is said, when people show & tell you who they are. Believe them!” Your written word has spoken volumes for your belief system.

It appears that you and U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul are kith and kin. Do you really believe that affirmative action has hurt white, Anglo-Saxon Protestants or are you pandering to the divisive, conservative, Tea Bagger types whose votes you will need in 2012? The true beneficiaries of affirmative action programs are white, Anglo-Saxon women…overwhelmingly. If a white, republican, ultra-right winger, or Rush, Beck or O’Reilly had written or spoken it, the world would have known about it. But, you have written it and it did not go unnoticed but it did not garner the attention that it should have. After the race baiting of the past week concerning the U.S.D.A. and the right-wing blogger who doctored the tape and the statistics that show the African (Black) community’s suffering disproportionately during this economic depression, one would think that you would have more sensitivity than to pen that science fiction. Have you advocated for the funding for the long overdue settlement for the Black farmers? John Boyd and the farmers need some help.

You have given cover & solace to those “who want to take their country back (from whom?), who want to reload not regroup, who think it is ok to spit on and use racial epithets against African members of the House of Representatives. Senator Webb, we need to meet to discuss your philosophy and other relevant issues like: bailouts for the rich and sellouts for taxpayers, the unethical profits of the oil companies at the expense of citizens, the Iraq & Afghanistan wars that are killing our soldiers and the economy, the outsourcing of jobs to India, China & Brazil at the expense of U.S. workers and a plethora of other life and death issues that you could have championed in the Wall Street Journal. Oh, did I forget…JOBS, JOBS, and more JOBS for the citizens of this country!

Does your colleague, Junior Senator Mark Warner concur with your belief? We will ask him as well. Well, fellow member of the NAACP, we look forward to your timely response and we can’t wait to meet you!

Sincerely,

King Salim Khalfani
Executive Director

CC: Senator Mark Warner

Good gravy, this is just utterly stunning.  I cannot imagine why the NAACP has decided to utterly destroy whatever credibility remained for it after we all watched with genuine surprise as NAACP members clapped and cheered when an African-American woman talked about how she discriminated against someone because of their race.

The NAACP is now officially irrelevant, and that’s about as charitable as one can be about this development.

How sad.

That “professional” organization DID NOT use a slur when they reffered to the Tea Party….did they? That alone sets them out as desperate and not exactly worthy of any further relevance.

Someone seems to have a problem with Palin… And do they have the proof of the spitting and name calling? No one has yet to provide this yet Michelle just brought it up again recently. This is all they have left. Play them off the stage keyboard kitty.

The naacp went off the tracks when they started to attack the Confederate Battle Flag in South Carolina about ten years ago. With a huge hs drop out rate, a high out of birth wedlock rate, a high rate of black on black crime, and in general crime rate, the naacp focused not on those problems within the black community, rather the Battle Flag. Yup, taking the Flag down will suddenly make the black community more successful, and will end all of those problems.

Fannie Mae, NAACP Announce Partnership to ProvideExpanded Mortgage Financing With Low Down…
    http://www.allbusiness.com/economy-economic-indicators/economic-indicators-home/6664922-1.html

In 2003 when Fannie Mae came under congressional investigation the NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus said it was a racist attack on Franklin D. Raines.

When it was proven later that Franklin D. Raines and his court had cooked the books, lined their pockets and left Fannie Mae in shambles not a word was spoken.

I guess it’s only a crime when the NAACP can cry victim.

My, my, how times have changed. The old core have, or are, dying off and look who is replacing them. They have nothing else to do but cry racism and try to stir the pot like brothers Jesse and Sharpton. The have lost their credability and can join the ilk of the new black panthers.

The NAACP’s problem is the same that the unions have — they WON.

The civil rights battles are over, they got even private discrimination outlawed, AND they got preferential treatment. They must have some raison d’être, so they cry “racism” all over the place.

They cry that our judicial system is racist because 50% of the prisoners are Black, but never think to question why the Black murder rate is NINE TIMES the White rate, regardless of income. If we assume that other crimes have similar rate disparities, and taking the Black population as 12%, we see that 9×0.12 = 1.08, which is greater than the ~0.88 (the non-Black population).

Indeed, perhaps the NAACP should look at those numbers and ask why there are not MORE Blacks in prison? Does Whitey not care to protect the Black citizens by imprisoning more perps in the Black neighborhoods?

N.B., the extrapolation from the murder rate to the rates for other crimes is just that, an extrapolation. The vast majority of extrapolations are incorrect. The murder rates by race are determined by victim body count. When you have a body, it is much easier to determine the race of the victim than the race of the murderer.

The differential in crime rates entirely disappears when normalized for single-parenthood. (But don’t let the facts fool you; listen to the feministas — kids don’t need fathers.) Does the NAACP care to address that problem? No. Why? Because it cannot be blamed on Whitey.

You guys are over-thinking this. Has anyone considered that membership in the NAACP is dwindling and Obama’s presence in the White House canceled a lot of their rhetoric? They gotta try something to stir the pot! Its just like CSpan used to do by claiming that they’d go off the air if sufficient funding didn’t materialize. And you silly Tea Baggers get all fired up. Its just another example of Politics 101…sorry, Fund Raising 101!

Senator Webb, we need to meet to discuss your philosophy and other relevant issues like how we can extort money from you.
Does your colleague, Junior Senator Mark Warner concur with your belief? We will send him a threating letter as well.

It is interesting how Racial arguments are beginning to fail for the hollowness that they really are, they are merely a tool to stir up passion rather than logic by whomever invokes them overtly or covertly

Breitbart played this masterfully last week, and forced the Progressive Marxists to fight eachother on race, and only race.
Glenn Beck is exposing the power that the Progs had in Race, and how the “You dont have to be a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows” document from 1969 Bill Ayers group was thier blueprint to the Whitehouse.
In that document, the commie-Weatherman realized that the one group they could not combat effectively was women who were not progressive. Therefore one of the race card inherent weakness is now gaining strength in the body politic: Conservative Women. I think thats partly because Love is the antithesis of racism, and most people can relate to a female figure in thier life who exemplifies that virtue of love, and also because percieved sexism is an easy subconscious counter-argument against the faux-racism card.

“when the NAACP can cry victim.”

At the end of the day, this is what it is all about. Me, I believe the NAACP and the pro-Latino groups are currently locked in battle over who can portray themselves as the more victimized special interest group.
