Nun Killed By “Hope And Change”

As if the sordid tale of Carlos Martinelly-Montano killing a nun wasn’t shocking enough, now comes a story from the Washington Post about how instead of deporting this habitual drunken driving illegal alien, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement instead provided him with an Employment Authorization Card and set him free. As an illegal alien awaiting a deportation hearing, Martinelly-Montano had no legal right to this kind of “soft amnesty”, but despite what the the law says the Obama administration facilitated this illegal alien’s continued unlawful presence, making it far easier for him to continue to violate the law, and resulting in the death of innocent Americans.
This isn’t what I expected from “hope and change” at all. I’d have never thought this sort of insanity possible.
Martinelly-Montano is hardly the only illegal alien to receive special assistance from ICE instead of deportation. During the brief time at the beginning of this administration when workplace enforcement raids were still being conducted, it became the practice that ICE would hand out Employment Authorization Cards to all the illegal aliens they discovered during the raid. Not only would the employers of illegal aliens benefit from they typical lack of enforcement and rarely suffer any penalties whatsoever for hiring illegal aliens while American citizens were without jobs, but instead of being processed for deportation illegal aliens would be made legal — in terms of employment at least. You have to wonder at this point what the point of having a Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement actually is, if they’re not going to enforce the law and instead busy themselves with providing work authorization documents to illegal aliens.
In this case this horrible practice is particularly galling. While awaiting his deportation hearing after being convicted of drunken driving, ICE gives this guy a card allowing him to legally work in the United States, despite him not having the authorization to actually be in the United States. He uses that work authorization card to obtain a Virginia ID card, which he could then use as evidence of legal presence in Virginia, and in fact he used one of these employment cards to obtain a driver’s license that under Virginia law he is not allowed to have. Then of course Martinelly-Montano gets drunk one Saturday night and ends up slamming his car into one occupied by three nuns driving to a church on Sunday morning, killing one of them.
I wouldn’t expect you to be rewarded with eligibility for Food Stamps if caught robbing grocery stores, but I suppose illegal aliens are entitled to be granted Employment Authorization Cards if they’re caught violating our immigration laws. You really have to wonder why illegal aliens get such preferential treatment for breaking the law that American citizens (other than members of the New Black Panther Party) are entitled to. While ICE supposedly doesn’t have the resources to process illegal aliens for deportation and recently dropped proceedings against 17,000 of them, they do apparently have the resources to administer a program that provides illegal aliens with Work Authorization Cards in violation of federal law. Maybe that’s a “stimulus” program I haven’t heard of yet.
Instead of enforcing the law, the feds are quite obviously doing everything possible to undermine it and as a result people die. This utter perversion where the executive branch of government is the chief opponent of the rule of law instead of the entity that enforces the law is incredibly destructive not only to the people who inevitably suffer as a result, but to the political structure of this nation. When there is effectively no law, when political concerns trump legal code, there is no resort for Americans other than ensuring their own defense from tyranny with whatever force they can bring to bear. We step ever closer to that unimaginable chaos when Americans see their government as their enemy and conclude that for their own safety they must eradicate such pestilence. We’re not there yet, but the line that separates peaceful outrage from armed rebellion is difficult to see and easy to cross.
Obama is quickly approaching that Rubicon. What he can do to further demonstrate his utter disregard and outright hostility towards the American people is hard to imagine, but if we’ve learned one thing it’s that Obama and his administration will always surprise us with the creativity and resourcefulness they bring to bear in trying to destroy this country.

OK, time to go through the state laws, line by line, and remove every law that duplicates a federal law. Can’t have those laws creating problems for the federal government.
And while we’re at it, tell state and local police to just ignore every federal law violation that they come across. Can’t have our police causing problems for the federal government.
And just think of the money that will be saved… No more wasting money on state and local police enforcing drug laws. This could solve the budget problems.

strong republican leadership left us with a war that I cant tell my son why we were there, the great decider couldnt really tell when asked, 11 million ilegals living in our mist, these people did not all come since 2006 people, and 6 trillion in debt for a war financed with chinese credit, un funded prescription drug benefit for seniors and a tax break for paris hilton types. Folks, the ship the president got onto wasnt exactly sailing smoothly was it? The economy was in free fall , remember? Cant wait to get back to that great Republican leadership so the country can get back to where it was in late 2008. Ha ha

Employment Authorization cards are issued by USCIS. ICE would be in charge of the monitoring or in this case likely monitoring the monitors, i.e. contractor

While I don’t necessarily agree with the way this case was handled and am appalled at the tragic result, how about sharing with your readers what has specifically changed under the Obama administration as compared to Bush that lead directly to this tragedy. Let’s face it: for folks as up in arms about this issue, Bush was a joke. Laying this at Obama’s feet is incredibly disingenuous.
Driving Over the Children Americans Won’t Drive Over

A young mother and her two toddlers remained hospitalized on Wednesday, one day after a tow truck driver struck them as they were crossing an Oxnard [California] street, dragging the children about one-quarter mile before stopping, police said. …
The driver, Mehran Khamseh, 45, of Santa Barbara, was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, police said.
Khamseh was being held without bail in Ventura County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury, misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance, a parole hold and an immigration hold, jail records show.
The immigration hold means that yet another maniac driver has destroyed American lives while in the country illegally.
Khamseh was convicted in 2008 of felony charges for making terrorist threats and petty theft. Yet he remained in the USA, like countless others like him.
But at least our rulers are keeping children safe from swing sets and Chuck E. Cheese.

I am surprised that the mother and her two toddlers were not arrested. Once the right influential “protect the illegals at all costs” rotten, scum, supporters are informed of this miscarriage of American Justice, am sure that this irresponsible mother and her two toddlers will be charged with some crime and an apology issued along with an appropriate financial settlement - to the scum illegal.
Virginia police chief tells feds to stop enabling illegal aliens

On Friday, a letter written by Prince William County Police Chief Charlie Deane to Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security John Morton, was released to the public. Chief Deane asked the DHS to stop issuing employment authorization cards to illegal aliens who have deportation proceedings pending against them.
In the letter, Chief Deane detailed a recent DUI crash in his county which killed Benedictine nun Sister Denise Mosier. The fatal accident was caused by Carlos Martinelly Montano, 23, an illegal alien from Bolivia who was handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement after a previous arrest, but was freed while awaiting a deportation hearing.
Montano received a U.S. Employment Authorization Card on January 14, 2009, after his second DUI arrest, which he then used to obtain a Virginia driver’s license. He was granted the card though he was slated for deportation.
Deane wrote: “I have been in contact with Virginia authorities regarding the concern that Virginia DMV documents issued based on EACs under these circumstances is very misleading. This can result in criminal aliens being inappropriately released when being processed by law enforcement authorities.”
Deane continued: “I ask that this glaring gap in DHS policy be ended.”
DHS has yet to respond to the request.
The wreck that took Sister Mosier’s life was actually Montano’s third DUI arrest in Prince William County over the last five years.
Montano is currently being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail.
A list of a of few Montano’s offenses follows:
- April 2009…he was arrested for driving without a license and convicted in June.
-October 2008…he was stopped for driving 55 in a 35 mph zone, and was found to have a .17 blood alcohol level. Montano was sentenced to three years probation and his driver’s license was suspended.
-December 2007…he was arrested for being drunk in public.
-July 2007…he was charged with DUI and convicted later that same year.
Not only has the federal government abandoned their responsibility to defend our borders, but they are issuing legal documents to criminal aliens which enable them to stay here and cause even more mayhem.
I have my own message to Assistant Secretary Morton…How many Americans have to die before you decide to enforce our laws?…Either do your job or resign!

This would also explain how the Iranian national , in the country illegally, was able to drive a tow truck for a living while his deportation hearing was pending. He may have had employment authorization as a courtesy of the DHS.
Does Charlie T. Deane really think his letter is going to make us believe he is going to start getting tough on illegals?
It is actually interesting that the Washington Post covered this story without turning it into a rant about how terrible it is that the law might ever be enforced. I think something changed when it was nuns that were killed. Even the Post is starting to get tired of this nonsense.
Meanwhile, the federal government has a lot of gall to be saying that Arizona is upsetting the delicate balance of immigration law non-enforcement, as though there is any method to this madness other than paving the way for cheap labor all these years. But now that the numbers of illegals are this high, and the public is supposed to be so brainwashed, now it is also starting to be about getting the illegals voting, in order to get more Dem votes.
I’m sorry, but that is really the only reason that the Republican Party is starting to have a problem. The non-enforcement and cheap labor was fine with them since the Reagan years - until it began threatening their elections. So now, they suddenly act upset.
But it’s all a play-act. Everything they suggest is really just a stall tactic. The idea (and the Dems are doing this too) is to keep things essentially as they are, providing cheap illegal slave labor for their buddies in business. The only thing the Republicans might try to do is make voting a little harder for illegals, and try to hijack the Tea Party movement, of course.
