The WaPO is a house divided these days. You get two sides from within their very pages. Half of them are trying to save the rag by appealing to other than a small base -- and the other half wants to see no change in the propogandic positioning of the paper....and charges on- doing dem business as usual. (these are the numbnuts that will also demand a bailout from the government when the last subscriber gets tired of their %$&^ and stops purchasing the useless POS.)

Greg, it was under republican leadership, Bush, that he was givin the " get out jail free card'. Those idiots want the cheap labor so they dont have to pay taxes which support the elderly, etc. Republicans want them here for economic reasons for buiseness. Why did they come?

The war of words has been going on for years. We are now in the middle of an election cycle so politicians of every stripe and color are trying to convince the voting electorate their solution is the correct solution. All you have to do is listen to the talking points for closing the borders, amnesty, hiring illegal aliens, immigrant crime, social services, etc. Of course anyone, who has been around a while, knows this is all propaganda for the masses and will not produce any meaningful action once elected. Typically either the issue is never brought to the floor for a vote, or the elected official votes with his party or his campaign donors. Immigration has become a political litmus test just like the abortion issue. Makes a good talking point and gets you a merit badge from the faithful, but is never resolved.

Every once in a while, someone ignores the normal order of all talk and no action. Arizona figured out that it would be stupid to wait on the Federal Government to solve their states problem and passed SR1070. Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell decided to actually take action in light of the death of the Nun by an illegal alien. He cannot control the irrational actions of DHS but he can determine Virginias policies. Virginia should be proud of electing a Governor who actually believes in solving problems instead of just talking about possible future alternative solutions.

Good job Governor McDonnell.

"Is there any way to determine if the nun-killer is a registered voter?"

Send a FOIA request to the voter registrar of Prince William County asking if Carlos A. Martinelly Montano is registered to vote.

They will tell you whether he is or is not registered to vote in Prince William County.

Is there any way to determine if the nun-killer is a registered voter?

Sure there is - but that would require political courage. And the admission that there are tens if not hundreds of thousands of illegals registered to vote. There is no political will for that at the present time.

If 9/11 did not ring enough bells to strip licenses from illegals, something as mundane as a dead nun is not going to do squat.

It will take a dead family member of the HOD to get the ball rolling.

If an EAC card (a.k.a "get out of jail free card") can get an illegal immigrant a Virginia drivers license, it seems logical that same illegal immigrant probably registered to vote while at the DMV? Is there any way to determine if the nun-killer is a registered voter?

It's absolutely amazing. And WTOP and the Washington Post are actually reporting it, even noting that the driver is an illegal alien, etc.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/virginiapolitics/2010/09/prince_william_chief_questions.html

The Washington Post article even quotes Chief Deane as saying that "DMV documents issued based on EACs can be misleading and result in illegal immigrants inappropriately being released back into the community when processed by law enforcement officials." That is remarkable information.

Interesting indeed. A few years ago, the Post would have carefully avoided mentioning the illegal status of the driver, hoping that we wouldn't notice. I think it is the church connection. Churches wanted a Day Labor center in Herndon, and the Post was out for blood if anybody disagreed... Any story about illegal immigrants was either about 'bad treatment of immigrants' (always carefully omitting the illegal status), or about how horrible it was that our laws might be enforced - and anybody who disagreed was a racist, anti-immigrant, etc, etc, etc. But now... hmmm.

Well, if the EAD is entered in the DMV database as the identification presented, it shouldn't be much of a task to notify the individuals that they are required to show up at DMV at an appointed date and present an alternative 'legal' document to prove lawful presence or have their Virginia id / license revoked.

A good day to report might coincide with a new ICE agent appreciation day at DMVs across the state.

Now if we could get the HOD to suspend their idiotic law which allows illegals to renew their licenses - as long as they don't expire.

What fricking genius thought that one up?

And which scumbags voted it in?
