Smack Down Of The Open Borders Crowd

By Greg L | 18 December 2010 | Illegal Aliens, Crime, Prince William County | 25 Comments

A Manassas resident remarks that discouraging the unlawful presence of illegal aliens results in taxpayer savings in a letter to the editor to the Manassas News & Messenger, prompting the open borders crowd to go on the attack.  Unfortunately for the open borders crowd, they had no idea who they were dealing with.

Here’s the opening salvo:

The topic not covered by the recent survey by U.Va. about illegal aliens was the amount saved by Prince William County when the illegals left.

The school lunch program saved a bundle in that they did not have to feed breakfast and lunch to the illegals’ children in the schools, the cost of hiring bilingual teachers to communicate with these children dropped, Title 8, and housing subsidies also dropped, food stamps were cut back, and hospital emergency rooms could now treat emergencies instead of treating the illegals and their families for any and all ailments that are normally treated by the family doctor.

The cost of free or subsidized transportation dropped, the cost of childbirth by illegals dropped, the cost of housing illegal criminals in jails and prisons in the county and state dropped. I am only scratching the surface. I am sure there are a lot more ways we have saved money by booting out the illegals.

Of course the local open borders lobby has to respond with precious little gems of intellectual superiority such as this:

I was wondering when the beating up on illegal immigrants would resume.

Can anyone of the illegal bashers give me a specific incident when his/her life was negativly (sic) impacted by an illegal (latino) immigrant and how did you know that particular person was actually illegal.

The letter writer claims PWC saved a lot of money by the exodus of illegals.
How much money would PWC make if all the illegals would have work permits and would pay proper taxes, have jobs and why not - health insurance?

Would they want to set up house and buy appliances, furniture, cars, food, clothing and toys for their kids? Wouldn’t the immigrant children actually pay enough into social security to garantee the program for many years?

I find this hatred for hispanic immigrants, illegal or not, very near-sighted and foolish. People who could be super consumers are forced into the underground.

Little people - little minds - no foresight - no solutions.

This prompts a fascinating response that once again demonstrates just how pathetic the mindless race-hustling drumbeat of the left really is.

I thank you for putting my comments in the Voices section; however, I would like to address a few comments made by my detractors [“Immigration savings?” Dec. 10]:

(1) My knowledge of illegal aliens: With 31 years as a U.S. immigration officer, which included the Border Patrol Academy, and being an inspection officer and then criminal investigator in both senior status and supervisory status, I think I have a pretty good grasp of the problem. In my experience, the illegals never paid taxes or, if they were forced to, they then claimed 15 dependents to avoid any payment. They used phony Social Security numbers so again they did not pay. And most empty houses are the problem of the banks giving the mortgage. Hence, no tax money lost.

(2) I never stated that we should boot the Latinos or the Hispanics. I said boot them all: man, woman and child. They can be Russian, Chinese, German, I don’t care. If they are illegal, boot them out, and we will save money.

(3) As for my life being in jeopardy due to an illegal, I have had guns shoved in my face by illegals and been threatened with death if I did not back down. I am still here, and the illegal is either six feet under in South Texas, or safely back in his or her country, and I am still here. So guess who backed down.

In closing, I must say I did expect some backlash when you printed my comments, and I knew that the Illegal Lovers would want my scalp. All I can say is: Get in line.

Kudos to Milton Brech, a patriot who risked his life to defend this nation but still has to suffer fools who pathetically equate any effort to enforce our laws with racism and bigotry because they haven’t the wherewithal to debate the facts.  For the life of me I can’t understand why the open borders lobby is so utterly determined to dismiss the demonstrated impacts of illegal immigration and say that the experience of so many of us who have felt these impacts is invalid.  We’ve lived this, we’ve been subject to problems no American should ever be forced to endure, and we acted within the political and legal systems to lawfully defend our communities and the future of our children.  But now we’re villains for doing so?

Denying our experience with illegal immigration doesn’t make those experiences go away, and it only enrages us that open borders advocates won’t recognize what we’ve been through.   For them to even go further and attack those who bore these trials they did not deserve is utterly despicable.

If solving problems related to illegal immigration using state and local law enforcement personnel is such a bad idea, I guess that’s why Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and Hazleton, PA Mayor Lou Barletta (running for Congress) lost their elections.  Oh, no, wait a minute.  They won.  By huge margins.  As did Chris Kobach (who helped draft Arizona’s SB 1070) in Kansas.

Seems like there’s a lot of folks who recognize the negative impacts of illegal immigration all across the country, but in Manassas there are still a few open borders holdouts who want to attack America’s heroes for securing our borders.  That probably says more about the open borders crowd than anyone else.

Not directly related, but was the Dream Act, (or the funding thereof) snuck into another bill?

    Might be worth checking into.

[Ed note: this was incorporated into the DREAM Act vote on Saturday. The latest action on this bill according to Thomas: Latest Action: 12/18/2010 Cloture on the motion to agree to House amendment to Senate amendment numbered 3 not invoked in Senate by Yea-Nay Vote. 55 - 41. Requiem for a DREAM

    December 18, 2010 3:08 P.M. By Mark Krikorian
As Katrina notes below, the DREAM Act has finally been put out of our misery (here’s how everyone voted). But it’s bigger than that. The vote was the capstone of 10 straight years of successful defense against amnesties, following the passage of seven amnesties from 1986 to 2000. Only twice in the past decade did amnesties even get the approval of one chamber — the overall amnesty passed by the Senate in 2006 and the DREAM amnesty by the House earlier this month — but neither time did the amnesty reach the president’s desk.

This decade-long perfect record of stopping amnesty came despite the fact that the pro-amnesty side has held all the commanding heights of the economy and society: Big Business, Big Labor, Big Religion, Big Academia, Big Media, Big Philanthropy, and of course, Big Government. The open-borders side is backed by billionaires like George Soros, Rupert Murdoch, and Michael Bloomberg, plus scores of millions from mammoth foundations like Ford, Carnegie, and MacArthur, plus 98 percent of groups lobbying Congress on the issue.

    But we had the public.

Now, the next phase of the immigration struggle begins. Next month, the new Congress will be a very different animal. Fifty-three members of the House of Representatives who voted for the DREAM amnesty will not be returning in January. And it will finally be time to go on the offense. Among the goals: making E-Verify a standard part of the hiring process for all new employees, Steve King’s idea of denying the deductibility of all wages paid to illegal workers, ending the egregious Visa Lottery, and closing down the chain-migration-driving immigration category for adult siblings of U.S. citizens.

Bingo. The long standing federal economic plan to recovery and growth is revealed.

“People who could be super consumers are forced into the underground.”

Underground or not they are allowed to stay and keep on acting the consumer, while their cost to the American tax payer far outstrips their value on any level outside of the voting booth.

Just another tentacle of government interference in the free market that is leading to our downfall as a nation.

Soon we will know if the “new republicans” have really heard the American people or will they continue the age old practice of both parties. Lip service and deflection.

    I especially like this part:

“Little people - little minds - no foresight - no solutions.”

In other words, we’re too stupid to understand anything and
when we have a solution that works, pretend it doesn’t.

Still we need to look to the money for the defense of the Dream Act and other progressive agendas. Why are teachers and other public employee groups, for example, so out of step with the facts, many of their members and in favor of amnesty - its all about membership revenues. How can they sustantain those vacations, that income, their state funded pensions and that record of - by any comparison internationally or statistically - dismal success, unless the schools are excused by such awful overcrowding that more teachers are needed. For that matter , when was the last time you heard a liberal complain aobut a corporate salary. Have your ever heard them complain about the size of union staffs or their salaries? We used to call these soft headed liberals bleeding hearts, but heart has nothing to do with it, its all self interest - at our expense.

Guys like Milton Brech are our heros - every day - as real public servents . They know what is going on. They live it, but will never be rewarded for their voices.

A husband and wife who own three restaurants in Northern Virginia have been convicted of employing illegal immigrants, but were acquitted of shielding their employees from detection by authorities.

Kiet Bui and My Tran own three Viet House restaurants in Virginia and were convicted this week of hiring at least seven illegal immigrants and paying them in cash in an effort to conceal them in business records.

A federal judge in Alexandria found both partners guilty of unlawful employment of illegal aliens and continued employment of illegal aliens.

But both were acquitted of harboring illegal immigrants.

That means U.S. District Judge Claude M. Hilton found them guilty of employing workers who were in the country illegally, but not of trying to hide the workers from immigration officials.

Bui and Tran could each face up to six months in prison for the conviction. They are scheduled to be sentenced on March 4.

Prosecutors argued that the two knew some of their workers were in the country illegally. They paid those workers in cash, did not keep payroll records for the employees and did not report the workers to the Virginia Employment Commission.

Bui’s attorney did not return a call for comment, and an attorney for Tran declined to comment.

Court records show that Bui paid some of his employees in cash, and did not file a Form I-9, which establishes that someone is authorized to work in the United States, for any of those employees.

When authorities interviewed Bui at his restaurants, several workers fled the establishments and one tried to hide in a walk-in freezer.

When the investigation into his employees began, Bui admitted to authorities that “he had a problem with illegal workers, that he was aware he had paid illegal workers in cash, and that he knows he has not paid taxes on them,” Court records say.

He contended that “employing illegal workers is normal in the restaurant business,” but could not name other establishments that hired illegal immigrants to work.

Bui was charged by criminal complaint on Sept. 1. A federal grand jury indicted both Bui and Tran later that month.

The three Viet House restaurants are located at 9966 Main St. in Fairfax, 11216 Lee Highway in Fairfax and 6226 Richmond Highway in Alexandria.

i am tired of people stating that all immigrants want to do is receive “free” things on a silver platter. what makes you think they want to receive anything for free. yes, i agree that some might but it is not only illegal immigrants. people who want free things handed to them exist everywhere. the truth is that the reason many are receiving food stamps and are living in a homeless shelter is because they are not allowed to work. you are right to argue that illegal immigrants should go back to their country. they came illegally that is true, but they are just trying to survive, to make a better life. their homes do not show any signs of improving for the better, they feel that their only chance of survival is trying to achieve the american dream. the problem is that many seem to be on the “lifeboat metaphor” proposed by Garrett Hardin, where he states that only the richer nations should survive and the poorer nations should be left to fend for themselves. in a way i agree, lets throw away our morals and human ethics. lets be realistic and stop all this arguing, lets tell it like it is. GREG likes to call some “open borders crowd” so ill call the other side the “closed borders crowd”. those that are part of the closed borders crowd should just stop trying to come up with excuses and should just state the truth plain and simple: they do not want to lend a helping hand to those that are less fortunate, they do not want to share their wealth and fortune, they are only looking out for themselves and no one else. And i understand that. all that i would like the open borders crowd is too remember all that the closed borders crowd does, all they say and all they do not do. the scales of fortune change, those that are on top today may not be tomorrow. “those that are at the top never look at their feet, never remember the stepping stones;those that are at the bottom are always looking towards the future ahead with hope, never forgetting those that stepped on them”-dreamerz

What a large load of guilt ridden, emotionally manipulating tripe. Victimology 101. Your post perfectly underscores this statement:

The only weapons at your disposal are the trick tools of a con, emotional manipulation, guilt trips and supremacist threats.

In all my travels with a tourist visa, each and every one was stamped by the host government with “Not permitted to work” or “Holders of Visitors visas are not allowed to take up employment” Why? To ensure foreigners don’t take jobs away from their citizens!

Every thief on the planet is just trying to survive, to make a better life, at the expense of others. With the excuse that the money in your pocket belongs in his pocket.

“Convince your victim you’re suffering in some way, and they’ll try to relieve your distress.

Convince your victim that someday the tables will turn and you will be suffering someday so best hand over a down payment to ensure your future rescue.

Covert-aggressives use this tactic to cloak their self-serving agendas in the guise of service to a more noble cause. By pretending to be working hard on someone else’s behalf, covert-aggressives conceal their own ambition, desire for power, and quest for a position of dominance over others.”

AGAIN: The only weapons at your disposal are the trick tools of a con, emotional manipulation, guilt trips and supremacist threats.

Most Americans are sympathetic to anyone legitimately trying to better their lot in life, but are real short tempered with race-baiters, hustlers and their trouble making ilk.

Most of us know, via our parents and grandparents example, that getting ahead entails sacrificing, giving up immediate extras, doing without, living frugally while putting in longer hours, getting a second job….and such.

Years ago, as a newlywed couple walking around the Mall in DC, my husband was approached by a guy on a busy street corner who loudly praised us for being “such a handsome young couple”… “It’s so nice to see young love enjoying a beautiful Spring day” ….”you are a lucky man”….”you got your whole lives ahead of you”…we thanked him but knew that the barrage of unsolicited well wishing and compliments could be followed by the other shoe dropping…

The man kept pace until mid-block, and in front of a carry-out restaurant , he maneuvered in front of our path to ask my husband for food. “I haven’t eaten since yesterday” he said. “Could you find it in your heart to spare a few dollars for a meal?”

My husband said “I’ll buy you some food, but I won’t give you cash.” The man did a little dance… just hand over cash…can get my own food….no need to trouble yourself or waste your time…

My husband stood firm. “You can be my guest, pick whatever you want off the menu…I’ll pay for it” The man started to get irate…no deal, cash only…

My husband reminded him of the request. ” You said you were hungry. You asked for food. I am agreeing to buy you some food.”

We had little to spare in those days, and tucked in my purse was a pair of peanut butter sandwiches and apples for our lunch.

The man became hostile…in a few short minutes we had gone from being a charming young couple to greedy heartless bastards who had no business being on this “hungry” mans block… he was hungry all right, but not for food…

All that well wishing and praise was a transparent hustle..his pity plea for food a scam…and when it didn’t do the trick of getting us to hand over cash for his daily fix of booze, crack, smack or whatever…the appeal to our presumed vanity rapidly transformed to his shaming us for our tight fisted lack of sympathy and cooperation…

As we walked away, the threats of future retribution followed … “what goes around comes around…you will be written up in the book of life …those without mercy will find no mercy….

    Sound familiar?

well ANONYMOUS thank you for stating what others have replied to me before. Of course, just so you understand, I am not trying to use “a large load of guilt ridden, emotionally manipulating tripe”. I’m just giving my view of the situation. As surprising as it might seem, I’m actually part of the “closed borders crowed”. I believe america should take care of its american Citizens first because right now america isn’t all it claims to be. Those who come here should go back to where they came from, instead of trying to achieve the american dream they should try to dream in their own land. the only problem is that it basically is impossible for them to survive in their homelands. I wish there was something we could do to help them. The problem is that all anyone focuses on is getting “the Illegals out of america”. I only wish we had some moral ethic to help them, not because of guilt, but because we are american, and we stand for all america is supposed to stand for…………sh*t no stars to wish on tonight…guess those of us with hearts and knowledge will just have to keep dreaming until we find a star…………

I just learned the Prince William County Police Department Criminal Alien Unit is no longer. After speaking to several Police Officer/Detectives, the unit was broken down. Supervisor Richard Cundiff and Michael Crosbie who are in charge of such unit placed the certified ICE officer into different assignments but yet making them keep their certification to deceive the public that the unit still exists. Although the department does have certified ICE officer within the department, the Criminal Alien Unit is no longer. After reviewing arrests numbers it is apparent of the credibility of such information as immigration arrest has significantly gone down.

The Police Department has been targeting cases that will catch media attention. When a significant case rises, the supervisor pulls out the certified ICE officer from his current assignment to make an immigration arrest. They make it appear as if they have been proactive with immigration arrests and issues. One of their current high profiled arrests was the nun killed by a drunken illegal immigrant. Such arrest made the public think that the Criminal Alien Unit reacted but in this case it was the ICE certified jail officers because the police department immigration unit is gone. One reason heard of such movement was, they were placed in different area of the department to increase immigration arrests within the department. However, if you look at each ICE certified officer arrest record the number speaks for its self; they have a max of one arrest a month if that. In many occasion there has been many months in which the officers has zero immigration arrests.

Further information obtained indicates the police department has been making these changes to include the breakage of the Criminal Alien Unit without letting the board of supervisor know. They have used deception to make them think the unit exists and are remain proactive by making immigration arrests. They have not told them of the unit breakage and where they have place the ICE certified officers. If the board of supervisor is allowing the police department to do this, what else are they keeping away from the public? What other deceptions is the Police Department responsible for?

I am looking for more sources to contribute to this news. If you have further information please post it with some sort of contact method so I contact you privately and create a future headline on the newspaper. Headlines will read sort of “Prince William Police Deceives It’s Citizen.”
