Jeanine Lawson Money Bomb

By Greg L | 18 June 2011 | Prince William County | 7 Comments

This weekend let’s help out one of the great insurgent campaigns in Prince William County. If you can spare a few bucks Jeanine Lawson can really use your help. Her opponent in the race has a significant funding advantage because of developer contributions and it is up to the grass roots to make up some of that gap. Jeanine is a terrific candidate and can use all the support you can provide!

Thanks for these posts! It’s so important to get rid of the old school cronyism… To make it really simple, here is the direct link to Jeanine’s “Contribution” page - you can quickly and easily send her a donation via PayPal.

    Let’s unseat Covington!

I spoke with Jeanine today and she told me she was very pleased and surprised by the level of support she got for her campaign from BVBL readers — especially in that she was hearing from people she didn’t know yet. She had no idea this was coming and was very appreciative.

Thanks to all the BVBL readers who helped out this fantastic candidate, and just because the “money bomb” was scheduled for a two day period, that doesn’t mean you can’t support her still today.

So being funded by “developers” is now a bad thing? Since when did the Republican party become anti-business??? Not sure I like the direction of that sentiment. Sounds like something right out of the mouth of Obama. Can’t you focus on other things besides “backed by business” as his negatives? The development of western Prince William is in my opinion a great success story. What gives y’all?

When a majority of your funding comes from interests who currently have business before the board, I have a problem. I don’t care if it’s the Haymarket Pony Girls who are trying to rezone property to make a My Little Pony Park. If you are pouring money into a candidate’s coffers and will benefit in the near short-term by that candidate’s actions if elected I think it’s a worthy campaign issue.

Who does Covington represent? His constituents? Apparently not.

The problem is that Mr. Covington works much of his “magic” under the radar. The whole face of western PWC is going to undergo a serious, and not benefical, change as a result of his actions. In less than a decade, this end of the county will be just like Fairfax County. The road projects set to move forward provide nothing for PW residents, just cut thru avenues for counties to the south. Since the planned development here is primarily residential, there will not even be any real tax revenue to support the roads. Where will the money come from? Probably another property tax increase, which Mr. Covington supported this last budget go round. Supporting Jeanine Lawson provides a voice to help protect the quality of life we sought as we moved to western PWC. On a side note, in the entire time Mr. Covington has represented the Brentsville District, there has been ZERO communication with the constituients about BOCS plans and actions. Why? Laziness? Forgetfullness? Or maybe he just does not want us to know what he is really doing. What he wants us to know about can be found in all those charming articles in the Bull Run Observer. WAG!
