According to Riley over at Virtucon, sources are saying a special prosecutor has been appointed to investigate charges of wire fraud and bank fraud. Just imagine, the darling of PWC dems whose candidacy was so celebrated by the Moonhowlings/moonbat crowd may soon be under indictment for his mortgage default scheme. This might be the first time Paul Ebert’s office ever was forced to initiate a criminal investigation of a Democratic candidate, as his usual method of operations is to launch investigations of Republicans that are dropped soon after the election is over.
While the facts surrounding Lateef’s half-million dollar default on his mortgage and family members subsequently buying the property and renting it to back Lateef for half of what his mortgage payment used to be, this case will hinge on evidence of an intent to defraud. Seeing how Lateef transferred the property a few months before the default took place, it certainly seems that there’s evidence there that this was a planned scheme in which case the criminal charges would be appropriate. Fools make bad decisions and suffer for them. Crooks make decisions that are bad for everyone else, but they do OK. In this case Lateef is sitting pretty in his old house and someone is out half a million dollars.
Dems out there are grumbling that maybe it wasn’t such a great idea to abuse Gary Friedman so badly and try to push him out of the party. At this point it’s far too late in the cycle for Friedman to replace Lateef as a candidate, leaving Dems with no one but a soon to be indicted fraudster to run at the top of their ticket in Prince William County. The disaster that is Bruce Roemmelt and Brian Moran racks up another embarrassing example of Democrat leadership being entirely out of touch with reality, leaving them the laughinstock of Virginia for having recruited yet another fatally flawed candidate this election cycle. So far DPVA has tried to foist someone who tries to run over pro-life protesters with their cars, an attorney who seeks out pedophiles and kiddie porn traffickers as clients, and now a real estate fraudster as candidates this election cycle.
Voters might start drawing conclusions from this pattern. Really.
