Democrats in Prince William County seem to have utterly lost their minds lately. I’ve never seen such a damning string of out-of-touch-with-the-electorate decisions in a single cycle, and we’ve seen some crazy election cycles over the past few years. Do these folks really think that now that Obama is president the entire electorate has been transformed into Che Guevara acolytes?
First up is the amazing revelation that Babur Lateef has not only been endorsed by “Virginia New Majority” but is actually promoting the endorsement. Here’s the complete statement by this group, in all of it’s glory:
“Dr. Lateef shares with us a vision for Prince William County as a beacon of acceptance, fairness, and freedom. We firmly believe that, under his leadership, Prince William County can make major strides towards ending the county’s perpetual attacks on immigrant communities and vital public services. Dr. Babur Lateef believes in a County government that ensures fairness for immigrants, excellent schools, and funding for high quality public services for all county residents. We are confident that Dr. Lateef has the right work experience to lead and life experiences that will foster the commitment to fighting for equality for all the residents of Prince William County.
Like all candidates that we’ve endorsed in the 2011 election cycle, we are confident that Dr. Lateef will build on the best of Virginia’s democratic traditions to help create a progressive future for our state. We will look to Dr. Lateef to be a champion of Prince Williams’ immigrant and African American communities, women, youth, LGBTQ communities, and working families. Dr. Lateef is in touch with the reality of the changing demographics of Northern Virginia, and Prince William in particular, and he aspires to lead the county towards an era of inclusiveness and economic security.”
I could see this kind of announcement in a place like San Francisco, but in Prince William County? This kind of leftist drivel does nothing but drive voters towards Corey Stewart who seems quite moderate compared to someone talking about being the champion of cross-dressing illegal aliens with breast implants and false eyelashes. About the only thing Lateef is actually in touch with is Mexicans Without Borders, which is part of this “Virginia New Majority” web of fringe causes and personalities.
“Virginia New Majority” is run by the political director of the SEIU, sports “solidarity brigades” and regularly appears under the auspices of the fringe “Tenants and Workers United.” It was formed in order to support illegal aliens in Herndon and after funneling a ton of money into the town’s elections managed to narrowly seize control of the Herndon Town Council where it is now busy removing all impediments that might make it harder for illegal alien day laborers to unlawfully obtain employment. Associated with the “Virginia Organizing Project” and their subordinate entities such as “Mexicans Without Borders,” this open borders fringe group is Virginia’s answer to Casa De Maryland.
Another endorsed Democratic candidate of “Virginia New Majority” (strangely, this charitable organization only endorses Democrats) is Esteban Garces, who is running in the new 2nd House District which includes a portion of Woodbridge. Garces, an employee of Tenants and Workers United at one time, famously told the Prince William County Board of Supervisors that illegal aliens need public assistance in order to bail family members out of jail. Really. We’re going to pay higher taxes so illegal aliens can be released from jail instead of being deported?
Garces recently visited SERVE in Stafford County demanding that they start stocking their food pantry with food items consistent with the dietary staples familiar to people from Central America, and threatened that he’d cause trouble for the charity if they didn’t submit. Fortunately they had the courage to stand up to the threats. The guy isn’t even elected to office (and likely will never be) and he’s already trying to bully non-profits that address hunger into becoming a latino-focused part of the ethnic grievance racket. Swell. I guess that makes it easier to understand why the only video content on Garce’s website is from Univision, and in Spanish.
Esteban Garces and Babur Lateef are the new face of the SEIU/Tenants and Workers United subsidiary that once was the Democrat party in Prince William County. I can’t imagine how someone like John Jenkins, a reasonable and respected man, can stand to associate with these wackos. The voters sure won’t this November.
