Shawn Mitchell: I Absolutely Support Obama

By Greg L | 4 October 2011 | 13th VA Senate, Loudoun County, Prince William County | 13 Comments

Shawn Mitchell, the Democrat running in the 13th Senate District, wants you to believe he’s some sort of “moderate,” and doesn’t even put the word “Democrat” on his campaign mailers. In person he’s very different than this false image.

If you like what Barack Obama has done to our economy, our federal deficit, and in support of illegal aliens at the expense of American citizens, well, you’ll just love Shawn Mitchell. If not, then Dick Black is your guy.

WOW!!! Great work Greg! Thank you for showing who Shawn Mitchell really is, way too liberal for the 13th district!

Mitchell was pretty stupid to say that on camera! Good video as always, Greg.

Are you working for Black now as well? I guess we won’t see anything about Black’s “terrorist” money then as referred to in your Lateef post below!

The end of the video states it was not authorized or paid for by any candidate.

I guess we won’t be seeing any common sense from you this cycle, either.
All Chapman , all the time.
I support Chapman…but there are other much more important races this year that are being ignored due to hyper-bloviating about one race….while you denounce the one shot at actually changing the balance of the General Assembly .

With you and Blackout’s efforts to keep Dick Black from even getting on the ballot (never mind us little people - you two jagov’s will make the decision for us) I put ZERO trust in anything you type…..as does everybody else I talk to .

As for Greg — WAy to go, man! I had a few minutes with Shawn at the Minority Debates…and in that few minutes of pleasantries…he looked uncomfortable with the subject matter and wanted to be elsewhere with his fellow democrats. If this persists everyime he gets a question he doesn’t like, he won’t go far.

Here we go again. Dick Black had every right to get on the ballot - which he had to move once again to do. He’s a political vagabond. He won the primary primarily because of the horrible campaign run by John Stirrup and Corry Bliss. And he’s the number one recipient of Safa group money. No thanks.

We agree on Stirrup’s efforts via Bliss. I was dissappointed. Still does not change the fact that we must own that State Senate in order to get changes to McDonnell.
Mitchell sure as hell won’t do it.

It’s more instructive to see the entire video without the commentary from a partisan.

I’d rather see things in context rather than clipped for effect, then I’d make a judgement.

…but Satchmo, would take some pretty powerful “context” to significantly dilute “I fully support Barack Obama.”

“Satchmo” - No way you can spin this! Given you still support Obama, I am sure this is not a big deal to you.

Looks like my previous comment was removed…

This video was nicely edited from the PWC100 debate between Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Black.

Watch the entire debate, unedited, here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/17661833

The context regarding the illegal immigration question is posed to Mr. Mitchell at 22:10. The context regarding Mr. Mitchell’s support for President Obama begins at 51:00.

You would never know from this video, but Mr. Mitchell’s “I absolutely support Barack Obama” quote was in reply to Mr. Black’s question of whether or not Mr. Mitchell would vote for the President in 2012.

Given that the 2012 election is 13 months away, Mr. Mitchell said that if the best the Republicans had to offer were front-runners Michelle Bachmann or Rick Perry, then he would vote for Barack Obama.

I was at this debate and I could tell this was a set up from the beginning. I’m sure Mr. Black’s seasoned campaign manager told him to ask this right off the bat during the open candidate questioning portion of this debate.

Either way, this is great propaganda for the Dick Black campaign. No doubt it will convince uneducated voters who do not research things for themselves and believe whatever is posted on the internet.

    Gainesville Patriot,

I’m not sure what point you are trying to make here. Does the video showing Shawn Mitchell’s “Absolute” support of Barack Obama before it shows Mitchell supporting in state tuition for illegal aliens somehow change Mitchell’s position? Are you just mad at the timing of the content of Mitchell’s answers in the video, or that more people are now finding out about Mitchell’s positions?

Mitchell has been very careful to try and not talk about any issues, only staking out a position when he is forced to. Most of his campaign has been about made up attacks on his opponent. But it is “absolutely” clear (love using that word here) that he declared his support for Barack Obama. It is “absolutely” clear that Mitchell supports in state tuition for illegal aliens. Is there any debate about that? Nope. Looks pretty clear.

So in this instance, the choice in this race is “absolutely” clear. If you want a Senator who supports Barack Obama and his policies (more spending, more stimulus plans, more Obamacare), vote for Mitchell. If you want a pro-business, anti-tax conservative who will fight against Obamacare, vote for Black.
