Oh, That’s A Good One…

By Greg L | 20 December 2011 | Virginia Politics, Humor & Satire | 10 Comments

Maybe this is the season for good jokes, as well as good cheer.  Luke Torian for Lieutenant Governor?  Really?

Maybe Virginia Democrats simply don’t have much in the way of alternatives.  Or perhaps they’ve finally discovered a sense of humor.  If it’s the latter, I thank them for a good laugh that made my season a little brighter.

Dems would be lucky to get Torian to run. He’s won races in tough years, has raised some money, has non-political contacts that will be beneficial to a campaign. He does a great job connecting with voters and will help Dems bring out the base.

As I frequently say, the Democrats greatest weakness at all levels is their bench. This just proves the point.

Don’t underestimate the threat. Before November, 2008, Joe Biden as Vice President seemed like a good joke.

Joe Biden as V/P is still a good joke.

To anyone enamored with the idea of Torian running for state-wide office, I challenge them to name a single legislative accomplishment for him. Just one. In all of the time he has kept a seat warm in the House of Delegates, just give me one accomplishment.

    And no, adultery doesn’t count.

How about Dan Quayle and Sarah Palin?

    Palin accomplishments …

As Mayor and City Council, maybe there was some property tax cuts, and infrastructure improvements that opened the door to improve the local economy.

State government job, shined a spotlight on Big Oil corruption

Governor, maybe cutting spending, AGIA (Alaska Gasline Inducement Act), and ACES (Alaskans’ Clear and Equitable Share) would count for something.

Or she fooled alot of people, still leaving office with a 56% approval.

This is a made up story, isn’t it? Luke Torian has never expressed an interest in running for Lt. Governor nor has anyone apparently ever asked him to consider it. Sounds like someone goofing around.
