Memorial bricks at the Marine Corps Museum funded with taxpayer dollars

According to Virtucon, this is what $800 in taxpayer dollars looks like.  Sheriff of Nottingham in PWC has even more to show you on this.  How in the hell could PWC Board Member Maureen Caddigan think to turn the National Museum of the Marine Corps from a monument to the honor, duty and faithfulness of the Corps into a demonstration of political corruption, fraud and abuse of the public trust?

Bright and early tomorrow morning I would not at all be surprised to find a Marine prying these bricks out of the ground with a bayonet and throwing them into a dumpster in disgust.

To be fair, you’re only looking at $600 of taxpayers’ money there. The other $200 is Jenkins’ brick.

What were the criteria for placing a brick in this site? Were non-Marines barred? Did Mrs. Caddigan use her position as a Supervisor to place a brick with her name on it when other civilians were prohibited from doing so?

I know a lot of places that use these bricks as fund-raising devices. My daughter has her name on one at Ford’s Theatre downtown. Of course, if the standards for this location were that one had to be a Marine, something is amiss and the Marine Corps should take offense. If, however, there were no restrictions on civilian donations, I don’t see any problem with it.

The other question is the use of taxpayor money. I take it from the emphatic tone of the post that we know this to be a fact. If so, was this done through subterfuge or deceit? Was this part of the “Discretionary” budget that PWC Supervisors have treated themselves to for far too long? If so, it’s not the worst use of that money I have heard of.
