Ken Cuccinelli Rescues Truck Driver From Burning Rig

By Greg L | 25 January 2013 | Virginia Politics | 19 Comments

NBC 12 is reporting that Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli rescued a truck driver from a burning rig and helped extinguish the fire while travelling on Interstate 64 today.  Given all the history he reads of our founding fathers, it surprises me not at all that when he encounters a situation where life is in danger there’s not a whole lot of hesitation on his part to rush to the rescue.  I doubt he was the only other one on that stretch of the interstate today, but it certainly seems he was the only one to do something other than gawk.

Cuccinelli never got the driver’s name, and told me that she had no clue who he was. The plates on her rig were from Kentucky.

That’s what an individualist, rather than a statist mindset gets you: people who take action to do what is right and don’t care about acknowledgement.  Good job, Ken.

My attorney general and future governor of Virginia (and president of the United States, God willing!)

Excuse, where do you get your information?
According to Fire/EMS and local news Mr. Cuccinelli rolled down his window and yelled at the driver. That’s a far cry from putting out the fire and rescuing the female driver. Good grief, Ken ain’t no Cory Booker.

Let’s see. One candidate in the VA Govenors race saves FFX taxpayers $500 million proving to the EPA that water isn’t a pollutant AND saves a trucker in a burning rig; Another candidate wrestles alligators for money AND rents out the Lincoln Bedroom to Clinton donors. Tough choice. LOL

    Seems too convenient. Staged?

Yeah, it certainly has every appearance of being staged, since Cuccinelli knew exactly when he would be going along that stretch of I-64, could have easily found a partially disabled truck driver from Kentucky to participate in the scheme who could be in the right place at the right time, had someone set fire to the rig while it was moving, and then conveniently happened upon the rig on that piece of road before anyone else after allowing enough time for the fire to grow.

Yeah, that’s within the realm of the possible. You’d have to credit Cooch with some pretty God-like powers if this was intended and any of these variables weren’t precisely under control, though.

Poor Mike…as most liberals, he’s lost on reading comprehension. Cooch manned a fire extinguisher and shot the flames before the Fire Dept. even arrived.
Kinda like dealing with an armed home invasion before the police are able to respond.

When seconds count, the fire dept. is only minutes away.

Good lord, the rear tires on a big rig were on fire. He drove up next to her and let the driver know to pull over….maybe he should be made emperor of the universe

I just finally read the article. He most certainly did not save anyone’s life. He is not a hero but he did help someone out which is always good.

“Chenard said he pulled the car up along side of the semi and saw the back tires of the trailer engulfed in flames. It was clear the driver was not aware of the problem. Chenard honked his horn to get the driver’s attention and Cuccinelli yelled to the driver out the window, convincing her to pull over.”

“Back tires of the trailer engulfed in flames.” Probably an empty trailer with brakes locked up. Fire was at least 20 feet behind the tractor. Cooch “helped the driver from the cab.” Assistance yes….rescue no. Good samaritan yes…..hero no.

Greg. You should be embarrassed for posting this title with the story. There was no rescue.

Does anyone know if Bill Bolling is running as an independent?

Not yet. Lots of hints that he is considering it, but no official word yet.

Objectively, Bolling is crazy to do this unless he has a viable path to victory. I don’t think that path is anywhere, but a lot of that depends on how his longtime consultants feel about it. If they say the path is there — and they have a vested financial interest in saying that there is one since they would make a LOT of money if that is the case — then Bolling would reasonably choose to take it.

If those consultants are terribly and stupidly wrong, after Bolling crashes and burns their careers would likely in in grave jeopardy, so they can’t go way out on a limb here. They need to survive after Bolling’s political career is over, and lying to him isn’t the way to make that happen.

If those consultants say it’s a lost cause, which it quite likely is, Bolling will not do it. There’s no upside in being a spoiler out of spite, and despite the dumb things Bolling has done of late I can’t possibly think him crazy enough to do that. For almost all of his career he has been pretty smart, and eventually he will tack back in that direction.

    Rescued truck driver

What the heck - It is on the Drudge Report.

If a democrat candidate had been involved in this rescue, the Drive-By news media would be having an organism over it. Their take -

Burning tires - saved truck from being involved in an explosion and so on - perhaps saved a whole town, plus the state of Virginia, and maybe the entire Northeast USA!

Liberals will always let you peek under their skirts. Especially when the news story isn’t about them.
They’ll say and do things that will give you a right-on register of observing their non self-awareness and often first-hand observation of their lower mental function prioritization syndrome.

When they sense “crisis” ( and this certainly warrants a crisis in liberal land standards) they automatically go to the lower mental functions ….those base and neanderthal ones…They call names, they throw poo, and they even lie to gain (what in their minds) is the upper hand.

And not being self-aware, they do not see or even think about how they must be percieved by the rest of us.

The driver was obviously driving with the brake set. Letting nature take its course may have been the better choice.

    Thanks Paul.

    On Nature:
“Letting nature take its course may have been the better choice.”

Well, that would depend upon the truck driver’s credentials!

If it is a citizen - then the government finds reasons to charge the driver - dead or alive!

If its an illegal - then the government with the help of some liberal advocacy group finds reasons and ways to sue the trucking company.

Now - what about illegals and amnesty?
