Prince William County Government Owes Us Answers

By Greg L | 12 July 2014 | Illegal Aliens, Prince William County | 20 Comments

How in the hell does a sitting Prince William County Supervisor profit from having illegal aliens detained by a non-profit entity in Bristow yet our county government apparently has no idea what is going on?  How does this all come about with no information being provided to residents who may be impacted and apparently no desire by government officials to advise us what risks and impacts are being imposed on us without our knowledge and against our will?

If Prince William County doesn’t start providing some answers really soon, it’s going to get awfully ugly down at the McCoart Center very quickly.

Today the federal government announced it was abandoning plans to detain illegal aliens at an Army Reserve Center in Westminster, MD after local officials and the community figured out what was going on and started working together.  In Prince William County, which has a history of being responsive to citizen concerns on this issue, local elected officials are hiding their heads in the sand and refusing to even address the issue which some of them are actively trying to facilitate.  When Carroll County Maryland proves itself more responsive to citizen concerns than Prince William County, VA we have a truly massive problem, folks.

Which Supervisor? Brentsville or Gainesville District? Wally Covington or Peter Candland?

Frank Principi. He is the Executive Director of the Greater Prince William Community Health Center which is paid (ultimately out of taxpayer funds) to provide medical services for these illegal aliens. He knew about this as soon as it happened.

Even worse. Chairman Corey Stewart has been aware of this for months and even gone so far as to keep a lid on this from becoming public!

I haven’t been able to confirm that the board at large knew anything about this up until very recently. The only supervisor that I know was aware of this beforehand was Frank Principi, and that’s only because of his financial relationship with Youth For Tomorrow and the PWC Community Health Center which provides at least some of the medical services for YFT.

Two supervisors have indicated to constituents that they were not informed about YFT’s plans and seemed to be ignorant of them up until last week.

The one the rest keep out of the loop because he asks too many of the right questions and the one who isn’t sure where he is half the time.

Somebody is feeling the heat. Corey Stewart put this out on Facebook in the last hour: “The crisis at the border has again reached Prince William County. Without providing the County any notice, the Federal Government is now placing illegal immigrant children at private and perhaps federal facilities in our county. Although no County facilities are being used to house the children, I will ask the Board tomorrow to direct the County Executive to attempt to find out more about the location(s) where these children are being held and whether there is anything that the Board can do to stop it. While it may seem cold hearted, it is important that these children be sent back home since letting them stay simply entices even more children to attempt the long and dangerous journey to the United States.”

Why is this a County matter? I thought this group was a private charity. And why are we not pleased that there are people in Northern Virginia who have the resources to help process these people? They can’t be sent back under current law, so they have to be adequately sheltered somewhere. Is there any good reason they should not be sheltered here, as well as other places around the country?

For starters, YFT operates under the terms of a Special Use Permit that limits the number of resident program participants and requires coordination with the PWCPD. We do not know if the terms of that SUP have been honored when YFT decided to convert at least part of their facilities into detention centers for juvenile illegal aliens.

The security situation at YFT has been a real issue for years, requiring county taxpayers to essentially subsidize YFT by providing near-constant law enforcement support. Now they are taking in persons detained at the border by federal law enforcement authorities and who are detained in secure facilities patrolled by people carrying automatic weapons. These individuals are now transferred to a non law-enforcement facility that lacks any of these security measures and has a history of being unable to effectively secure garden-variety juvenile offenders. Aside from just the security concerns here are significant fiscal impacts on local residents as well as we pay even more for law enforcement support at YFT.

Sources within the PWC Community Health Center who treated these juveniles report widespread and problematic contagious diseases rampant within the population as well. YFT does not appear to maintain quarantine facilities or have qualified personnel onsite to manage these problems as the CDC recommends in order to prevent dangers to the community.

When the school year starts, it is unlikely that YFT will be able to accommodate these juveniles in their educational programs and may be forced to send these people to local schools, which are already overcrowded. We bear those costs. Our kids are impacted.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg…

The assumption appears to be that these young people from Central America are inherently dangerous - on a level with domestic kids who have gotten crosswise with the law here, and/or are spilling over with contagion. Is there evidence that either is the case?

Don’t reports from medical providers constitute evidence of a health risk that deserves more information? Aren’t the security measures that the federal government uses evidence of risks? All of this is evidence-based.

What are we waiting for? Why aren’t we gathering at YFT? A PWC cop is standing guard right now. Who’s paying for that?

My reporter instincts tell me to look at the money trail. Who benefits from accepting these children? Who pockets extra $$ from the state and the Feds? Why was this arrangement slipped in under the noses of our supervisors and our citizens? These are legitimate questions. Don’t be intimidated out of asking them. In response to one of the Anonymous commenters: public health is a serious concern. If only one case of TB comes in contact with a vulnerable population (say, for example, sick people at the PWCHC’s waiting room), we will have a public health crisis that will expand to local hospitals. And that is only one disease that has been brought into our country. Houston, we have a problem.

    Here’s a great snippet:

“Both Chairman At-Large Corey Stewart and Gainesville Supervisor Pete Candland made public statements in support of having undocumented children removed from the facility and reunited with their parents in their home countries.

Stewart told NPR Wednesday that he hopes that residents will not protest Youth for Tomorrow”

Why would that be Corey? Do we give him what he wants?

Virginia Senator Mark Warner - Democrat - has not been to the border. He not only supports Obama, he deliberately conceals information from Virginians about illegal alien dumping.

Virginia Senator, Mark Warner, is deliberately concealing information about secret illegal alien dumping in Virginia since the town folks of Bristow when toe to toe with DHS/ICE and told them they could take Obama’s special protected illegal aliens and house them somewhere else.

When I called Senator Warner’s office – nearly two weeks ago - where the Bristow illegal aliens would be transferred in Virginia, his office said, “The Senator is not ready to make a statement at this time.” To date, Warner has made no statement.

Recently DHS/ICE dumped illegal aliens juveniles (some of whom may be MS-13 gang members) in Prince William County – with Red Cross phones to stay in contact with ‘family members.’

When Warner’s office was asked why Virginians were not informed of this dumping, his staff said “Senator Warner is monitoring the situation.” When asked how many more can be expected, his staff responds the usual deer in the headlights blank stare.

Senator Warner’s staff member – who handles immigration issues - is Emma Peck. Warner’s office will direct you to her voice mail with a promise that she will get back to you … but that doesn’t happen.

Warner is deliberately lying to Virginians …. Just like he did with Obamacare when he promised he would never vote for a bill that reduced coverage or forced people into networks that did not include their doctors.
Warner is up for re-election … do we really want someone who doesn’t even know what’s going on in his own state representing us in the Senate? I think not!

The influx of illegal children is now draining our school system. We should not be held responsible for paying their bills, nor feeding them nor clothing or housing them. Who is going to actually step up and take care of this county before we are over grown with welfare sucking illegals.
