John Whitbeck Video

27 July 2011 | Loudoun County, Virginia House | No Comments

One of the better speeches at the Loudoun County Republican Convention this week was that of John Whitbeck, who is running in the 10th District for the House of Delegates. This guy really seems to get it, and deserves a close look by the folks in that district.

EW Jackson at the LCRC

24 July 2011 | Loudoun County, US Senate | 6 Comments

Quite a few folks have been clamoring to see if I had any video of E. W. Jackson’s speech at the LCRC Convention. Here’s what I have. I hadn’t planned on bothering with candidates running in 2012 races as they’re already sucking way too much oxygen out of the 2011 elections, but when […]

LCRC Convention Results

23 July 2011 | Loudoun County | 17 Comments

York gets nominated by acclimation, and Chapman wins the Sheriff race by a weighted vote of about 2,500 to 1,500 in one of the smoothest run conventions I’ve ever seen.
But is that what delegates were really talking about?  Nope.  E. W. Jackson stole the show with a floor speech that brought the house down.  Anyone looking […]

Jim Plowman: Idiot or Political Hack?

22 July 2011 | Loudoun County | 12 Comments

When I read Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman’s attack on Ron Speakman’s proposal on illegal immigration, I couldn’t believe what I was reading.  Is this guy just a political hack who will say anything to support his preferred candidates, or is he really this incompetent?  Perhaps this is part of the reason Loudoun County […]

Steve Stockman Video

21 July 2011 | Loudoun County | No Comments

The Stockman campaign comes up with one of the best non-professional political videos I’ve seen in a long time. It’s worth a watch.

New Scott York Video

20 July 2011 | Loudoun County | 4 Comments

Looks like someone else in Loudoun County has picked up on the idea of creating political videos. Not a bad start, at all. This is going to hit like a sledgehammer.

Scott York Republican Backstab?

20 July 2011 | Loudoun County | 9 Comments

Breaking…
Scott York is telling people privately that he will run as an independent candidate for Loudoun County Chairman if he fails to secure the Republican nomination in this weekend’s primary.  Go figure.  It’s not like this hasn’t happened before.

Not Your Average Republican, I Suppose

19 July 2011 | Loudoun County | 43 Comments

Really?  Is this Liz Andrzejewicz Mills, the campaign manager for Mike Chapman who is running as a Republican?  Did she really run as a Democrat endorsed by the neo-communist “Working Families Party” in New York in 2008?
Why, why would a Republican choose someone with a political past like this to be the public face of his Republican primary campaign?

Meet The Real Scott York

18 July 2011 | Loudoun County | 13 Comments

On Saturday there’s a convention in Loudoun County that will select nominees for Sheriff and County Chairman. Current County Chairman Scott York is seeking the Republican nomination four years after he endorsed a slate of Democrats including the nutcase Andrea McGimsey over Republicans. For some strange reason, I think Steve Stockman is going […]

Campaign Videos That Reek

15 July 2011 | Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Humor & Satire | 3 Comments

You’re a candidate for office, and you want to get your message out.  What better way to do that than with a video?  It’s inexpensive, you can do anything you want, and it’s sure to get attention.  As Too Conservative and Not Larry Sabato point out today, that wide open field does however allow candidates to pretty much disqualify […]

VCDL-PAC Endorsement in the 87th House District

10 July 2011 | 87th HOD District, Loudoun County, Virginia House, Prince William County | 21 Comments

One candidate wrongly claimed an endorsement, only to have VCDL-PAC rapidly issue a request they retract the statement. Instead not only does VCDL-PAC endorse her opponent David Ramadan, but they show up at one of his fundraisers to personally announce their endorsement. I’ve never seen this happen before.

Jo-Ann Chase Tries To Frighten Me

1 July 2011 | Jo-Ann Chase, Loudoun County, Virginia House, Prince William County | 15 Comments

Oh, goodness! Jo-Ann Chase is taking pictures of me!

So here’s a candidate for House of Delegates and one of her campaign volunteers at the South Riding Independence Day celebration this evening, taking pictures of me.  Is it just me, or does the behavior here seem just a little unusual for someone who claims to […]

Jo-Ann Chase’s Pit Stop in Bizarro World

26 June 2011 | Jo-Ann Chase, Loudoun County, Virginia House, Prince William County | 8 Comments

An incident I heard about today reinforces a pattern of behavior I’ve noticed over the past years and voters in the 87th House District would do well to take note.  When someone seems to repeatedly experience unusual difficulty in differentiating between fact and fiction, they really aren’t someone you’d consider qualified to exercise any degree […]

Ron Speakman Interview

10 June 2011 | Loudoun County | 7 Comments

If only more candidates would explain why they’re running for office, as Ron Speakman does in this piece. Too often voters don’t feel they know the candidates who are asking for their votes very well, and in years past (before I got engaged in political activism) that’s definitely been the case for me. […]

John Stirrup’s Campaign Kickoff

9 June 2011 | 13th VA Senate, Loudoun County, Virginia Senate, Prince William County | 4 Comments

John Stirrup held his campaign kickoff at the Lion & Bull in Haymarket this evening with an overflow crowd that included political luminaries from as far as Harrisonburg, as this photo of John Stirrup with Senator Mark Obenshain attests. You’d expect that a senate campaign kickoff would draw a pretty significant crowd, but to […]

Pastor Arlie At The Pig Roast

5 June 2011 | Loudoun County | 12 Comments

I was at Ron Speakman’s Pig Roast this weekend getting some footage for an upcoming video and caught what I thought was one of the most engaging endorsement speeches ever for a local candidate. Pastor Arlie Whitlow of the Community Church in Ashburn took a few minutes to talk about why he supports Ron […]

Three In The 13th?

12 May 2011 | 13th VA Senate, Loudoun County, Virginia Senate, Prince William County | 58 Comments

Redistricting brought a lot of changes to Prince William County, and the two biggest were changes to the overlapping 13th House District and the 29th Senate District.  To add just a little bit of confusion, the 13th Senate District was moved up this way and will now cover a wide swath of Loudoun County and […]

87th House District: Where The Entertaiment Is

12 May 2011 | Loudoun County, Virginia House, Prince William County | 25 Comments

Redistricting gave northern Virginia a new House of Delegates seat which picks up the northwest corner of Prince William County, runs out through Dulles Airport and ends around Route 7 in Loudoun County.  This new 87th District’s somewhat strange shape so far seems to fit the somewhat strange political theater that has been playing out […]

Patricia is running for Senate in Loudoun County and probably by next Tuesday we’ll have a good idea of what district she’ll be in and who else may be running.  I’ve known Patricia for quite some time now and without any reservation I say […]

ICE (Temporarily?) Awakens From Slumbers

23 March 2011 | Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Illegal Aliens, Crime, Prince William County | 24 Comments

After being pounded upon for releasing illegal aliens back into our community after they were turned over by local authorities for deportation, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement rounded up 163 illegal aliens in Northern Virginia earlier this week.  Meanwhile millions of Americans also did the jobs they’re being paid to do but no […]
