Getting Ready For the RPV Convention
9 May 2009 | RPV, Blogs | 6 Comments
Back when Jeff Frederick was RPV Chairman, he set in motion some interesting initiatives that are now coming to fruition under interim Chairman Pat Mullins. Previous RPV Conventions used to generally tolerate blogs, but this year’s convention may be the first to bring blogs and New Media front-and-center. The details are still being worked out, […]

Hmmm…
5 May 2009 | RPV | 10 Comments
Mason Conservative has an interesting observation regarding our new masters at RPV:
Did You Know . . . that according to my source inside RPV at 115 East Grace St in Richmond, there is only John Brownlee literature! None for Cuccinelli and none for Foster! Outrageous, but not surprising because the same people behind Frederick’s demise […]
Jeff Frederick Won’t Run
4 May 2009 | RPV | 10 Comments
Jeff Frederick has announced that he won’t be leading the charge to reclaim the Republican Party of Virginia by seeking election as Chairman, but encourages conservative grass-roots activists to keep fighting the State Central Committee establishment. I think they will, even though there isn’t a grass-roots candidate for chairman at this point.

More Fuel On The Fire
13 April 2009 | RPV | 34 Comments
As the inside story continues to leak out about the removal of Jeff Frederick as RPV Chairman, it looks like a grass-roots revolt may be brewing that will come to a head at the upcoming RPV Convention. Howie Lind’s recent email to Republican activists certainly adds fuel to that fire, but so far any actual […]

H/T: Spank That Donkey
Like a number of others in the political blogosphere, I have deep concerns about the ongoing viability of the Republican Party of Virginia as an entity meaningful to the electoral process in Virginia. As an organization, it has done everything possible to alienate itself from the people most […]
Jeff Frederick Removed
4 April 2009 | RPV | 67 Comments
Today the State Central Committee removed RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick from office by a vote of 57-18.
Who the next lamb destined for slaughter in this position will be has not been disclosed yet. My expectation is that the appointment will speak volumes about why Frederick was removed, and firmly establish whether RPV has a future […]
State Central To Vote On Mass Suicide
3 April 2009 | RPV | 29 Comments
Tomorrow the State Central Committee will vote on a proposal to split the Republican Party of Virginia into two groups: A big business, tax-friendly, weak on illegal immigration group lead by Speaker Howell that will seek to out-Democrat the Democratic Party of Virginia that would be in charge of things, and another grass-roots conservative group […]

RPV’s Tribute To George Bush

Usually these emails don’t get a lot of attention from me, but this week’s “Chairman’s Update” from Republican Party of Virginia Jeff Frederick was so well written it wouldn’t be right to let it rot in the graveyard of my inbox. I’ve yet to encounter a better evaluation of the presidency of George Bush, the […]

Jim Rich Declares He’s A Democrat
5 December 2008 | RPV | 15 Comments
10th District Chairman Jim Rich decided to lash out at other Republican Party officials to the Washington Post, once again demonstrating just how incredibly unfit for office he is. The stink has gotten so bad that even Hampton Roads blog Bearing Drift is excoriating Rich for this most recent dumb move. If Rich is taking […]

I’ll Stick With Jeff Frederick
24 November 2008 | RPV | 32 Comments
There’s a debate supposedly within the Republican party over whether it should remain steadfast to Republican principles or be “pragmatic” about them in order to appeal to independents and Democrats. Another concurrent debate has started about Jeff Frederick as RPV Chairman. If you really want to understand why these debates are happening, look no farther […]

The Backbiting Must Stop
9 November 2008 | RPV | 39 Comments
One GOP unit Chairman for Greenville-Emporia (total population about the size of Manassas Park, VA) has called on RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick To resign, prompting “The Contemporary Conservative” to post Carla Harris’ letter underneath a post title that alleges that GOP Chairmen are calling for RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick to resign. If one obscure unit […]

Jeff Frederick Takes The Helm
1 June 2008 | RPV | 21 Comments
Today’s result in the race for Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia marks a huge shift in favor of the grass-roots that will absolutely change the face of the party. The Too Conservative today offers a poster of the movie “Apocalypse Now” as a commentary, which depending on your viewpoint either signifies this as […]

Delegate Votes, Apples, Oranges, And Weighted Votes — UPDATED
31 May 2008 | RPV | 14 Comments
A funny thing happened to me on the way to my seat at the Republican Convention today. I saw a big sign for the 10th Congressional District, which is where I live, and Prince William County wasn’t seated there. After a little searching, I found out that I would be seated, and considered a voter […]

Gilmore Wins
31 May 2008 | RPV, US Senate | 25 Comments
I had to leave early before the results for Senate were announced, but Jim Gilmore eked out a very narrow victory at the Republican Convention today, Bearing Drift reports. Based on the sticker count I saw, Jeff Frederick should cruise to a pretty substantial victory.
Congratulations to Jim Gilmore for his victory, and Bob Marshall for […]
Hager Tries To Rig A Convention

Is John Hager trying to run a railroad at the RPV Convention this weekend? By the looks of the information I got this evening, is kinda looks that way.

Commies Scream Bloody Murder About Jeff Frederick
28 May 2008 | RPV | 14 Comments
Man, I don’t know how one manages to get communists to rail against you like this, but I wish I knew how. When the far-left rails that Jeff Frederick, who is running for Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia has ties to — gasp — Americans For Prosperity, “All Children Matter” and the Conservative […]

If He Had To Choose, Frederick Picks RPV Chair
20 May 2008 | RPV | 12 Comments
In an email tonight, Delegate Jeff Frederick announced that he would not seek re-election for the 52nd House District if elected as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. My understanding is that there were some concerns about Frederick holding both positions simultaneously, and this is a response to those concerns.
Here’s what Jeff sent out […]

10th District Results
17 May 2008 | RPV, Loudoun County, Manassas Park, Manassas City, Prince William County | 17 Comments
Congratulations to Jo-Ann Chase, Kay Gunter and Howie Lind for being elected to the Republican State Central Committee for the 10th District! This represents a pretty substantial victory for conservatives over the slate endorsed by 10th District Chairman Jim Rich, who was re-elected without opposition. There was some minor confusion as the initial results indicated […]
John Hager’s Endorsements From Democrats
16 May 2008 | RPV | 3 Comments
John Hager has been busily trying to tally up endorsements for his re-election as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. In the midst of this effort, he managed to get endorsements not only from Mark Warner, but Dickie Cranwell. So far there hasn’t been a solid explanation of why an endorsement from a Democrat […]

Hager and Frederick Debate!
16 May 2008 | RPV | 6 Comments
The Prince William County Young Republicans have managed to set up what one else seems to have been able to make happen — a debate between candidates for RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick and John Hager. I don’t know how they managed to pull this off, but we get to reap the benefit regardless. The debate […]
