Riley has more on the processing of delegate applications for the 51st District convention over at Virtucon:

Washpo Laments Jeff Dion’s Implosion
27 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 24 Comments
Today’s metro section in the Washington Post has a very interesting piece of spin regarding Jeff Dion’s withdrawal from the Democratic convention for the 51st District. Apparently pointing out that a candidate running for office has a personals ad running on gay.com is considered a “personal attack”. That’s novel. It’s pretty amazing […]

Jeff Dion Goes Down
25 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 17 Comments
Jeff Dion sent an email to supporters this evening saying that he was withdrawing his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the 51st District. After the discovery of his gay.com personals ad, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. From his email:
A Brief History Of Faisal Gill
25 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 69 Comments
I got a scan of a newspaper article from someone today which was written by Alan Gura, who as was the lead counsel in Parker v. District of Columbia, the case which has overturned DC’s ban on firearms. When he’s not helping to win landmark cases like this, he apparently writes a column. […]

51st District Delegate Form Issues
25 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 29 Comments
Riley has an update on the delegate filings for the 51st District convention today, and reports that Faisal Gill filed fifty duplicate delegate forms (although he submitted them in alphabetical order, I’m told) and that sixty-eight forms were submitted for persons not registered to vote. In comparison, Julie Lucas submitted two delegate forms that […]

51st District Rumble
25 May 2007 | PWCDC, 51st HOD District | 8 Comments
I’ve heard that there is quite a bit of excitement within the ranks of Prince William County Democrats these days, although not the kind of excitement I think they’d really want. Half of Jeff Dion’s “kitchen cabinet” is telling Jeff to withdraw his candidacy. Paul Nichols, his opponent for the Democratic nomination in […]
Faisal Gill: Bad Choices
24 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 33 Comments
51st House District candidate Faisal Gill has said that the American Muslim Council, for which he was a spokesman in 2001, was a moderate group which only sought to increase the rate of participation by Muslims in the political process here in America, as well as their influence in the political debate. If that’s […]

RedState: Faisal Gill Will Hurt GOP
24 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 28 Comments
A few days ago, RedState followed up on their previous Faisal Gill story in which they asked whether we should be concerned about Faisal Gill’s candidacy, and have come to a conclusion about that question. We should.

Faisal Gill, VMPAC, and Herndon’s Day Laborer Center
23 May 2007 | Illegal Aliens, 51st HOD District | 12 Comments
Yesterday I reported on Faisal Gill’s endorsement by the Virginia Muslim Political Action Committee, which opposes measures to reduce the number of illegal aliens present in our communities. Folks have been looking at VMPAC trying to figure out what the heck this organization is, and courtesy of google, it would appear that Faisal Gill […]

Faisal Gill Endorsed By Illegal Alien Apologists
22 May 2007 | Illegal Aliens, 51st HOD District | 24 Comments
Faisal Gill has received the endorsement of the Virginia Muslim Political Action Committee (VMPAC), which is a small but somewhat notorious group that consistently supports the interests of illegal aliens over those of American citizens. On their website, the organization supports the following legislative initiatives:
Erosion of civil liberties
Human rights violations
Unfair immigration laws
Foreign policies of […]

Jeff Dion Gay Dating Ad Discovered
22 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 39 Comments
Not since Steve Chapman was discovered to have dating personals up at match.com (which stated his residence was outside of the district in which he was running as a candidate) have we seen anything like this. Yes, even you, can have a date with a current candidate for the Democratic nomination for the 51st […]

More On “Google Faisal Gill”
21 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 14 Comments
I got a scan of the Julie Lucas for Delegate flyer that arrived in the 51st District this weekend, and it’s quite a piece. I can see how Faisal Gill supporters are howling about this, as it’s pretty devastating, even though I consider it to be pretty tame.
So much for Faisal’s faint hopes that […]

Jeff Dion Called On To Drop Out?
21 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 17 Comments
NLS is reporting that another Democratic candidate for the 51st District is interested in running, but doesn’t want to run unless Jeff Dion drops out of the race. I would imagine that Ben isn’t talking about Paul Nichols, since he doesn’t seem to have a reputation for being shy about what he wants. Of note […]

Google Faisal Gill

A new commenter posits this question:
I’m quite disturbed by what I received in the mail today… It was a Julie Lucas for Delegate flyer that seems to be sent out to everyone in the 51st District… It directly attacks Faisal Gill and even tells people to “google” his name… Is this the honest and fair […]
Possible Voter Fraud In The 51st District
18 May 2007 | 51st HOD District, PWCRC | 39 Comments
Critical Update: The language in the 51st District call in question here was indeed taken from the RPV Party Plan. See update at the bottom of this post. See also “An Apology“.
The Prince William County Republican Committee reissued it’s convention calls on April 24th for the 51st District and for Clerk of the Court […]

Guilt By Association Wears Thin
17 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 16 Comments
“Our job as a charity is to accept money and spend it legally,” said Asim Ghafoor, a spokesman for Global Relief. “This is guilt by association.”
That was how Faisal Gill’s current law partner tried to explain away the relationship between the Global Relief Foundation and al-Qaeda in 2002 after the Treasury Department shut the “charity” […]

The Prince William County Democratic Committee has issued it’s own call for a convention for the 51st District to be held on June 2nd. Candidates must file by May 22nd, and pay a $1,000 filing fee, which is low by PWCDC standards. Delegate forms are due by May 29th. Of note is that the delegate […]

Following A RedState Trail
16 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 22 Comments
When RedState picked up on the Faisal Gill story, they threw out a rather interesting breadcrumb trail for enterprising bloggers to follow up on:
Also troubling is that a lawyer connected to Gill is rumored to be the Washington Post leaker of the NSA wiretapping program. Frank Gaffney wrote about Gill, primarily due to Gaffney’s war […]

Who Is RNS Bedford Park?
14 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 9 Comments
In Faisal Gill’s 2006 Q4 Campaign Finance Disclosure filed with the State Board of Elections there was a curious line item in Schedule B, which lists contributions over $100. A $1,000 contribution was listed coming from an organization identified as “RNS Bedford Park” at “5202 West 70th Place, Bedford Park, IL, 60638″, and listed […]
